The trip really packed in some iconic elements of Costa Rica, and lived up to its name in terms of seeing the highlights. It was great to experience the contrast of the Caribbean lowlands, rain forest and the pacific coast. And seeing the abundance of wildlife was incredible, as well as the delicious local dishes and wonderful people we me along the way. The guide was great, really personable and had good knowledge and a keen sense to show us as much as possible, often stopping en route when he had spied interesting animals from the van. The Manuel Antonio and the La Fortuna accommodation was great. The Authentico hotel was fine for passing through but we had paid for an additional night in San Jose, and for this purpose the hotel wasn’t in the best of locations as it was on the edge of the city with not much around in terms of restaurants so we felt a bit stuck in the hotel at the end.

Another wonderful trip with World Expeditions. In addition to the expected highlights of Petra, Wadi Rum, snorkelling in the Red Sea and floating in the Dead Sea, the unexpected delights of visiting a local family at Um Qais (and cooking/dining with them), the expansive Roman ruins at Jerash and our extraordinary driver Firas made this trip wonderful. Our leader made sure each and every one of us had the best experience of the countries that he was so passionate and knowledgeable about. I followed the instructions regarding labeling my luggage precisely but even so my bag still didn’t show up on the first day. Travel light should be stressed as many hotels involve hauling your bag up many flights of stairs. Lifts are rare. Meals were mostly excellent.

We had a really good experience on the Zaanse Schans tour with Derek and Pieter. The tour operator were very friendly and organised when getting us signed in at the meeting point, the tour bus had decent space and good AC. Derek was very knowledgeable and spoke at a good pace, so we learnt quite a lot on the trip. Our tour was done in English and Spanish (even the Delft factory has Spanish audio guides). There was a lot to see so not much time for photo stops but plenty of toilet breaks throughout.

Explore is getting worse and worse regarding customer service. If it wasn't for trips offered and mostly excellent tour leaders, would never recommend to friends. One option to better relationship would be to refund single supplement to anyone who is obviously not going to be paired off on a tour where all couples or different sex. Explore should be more considerate considering the profit margin on solo travel.
