This tour involved many great walks to experience the spectacular scenery, flora and fauna of New Zealand. Our minibus was comfortable for travelling in but it was also fun to use various types of water transportation. Our guide, Robbie, did a wonderful job of driving and guiding. He was always energetic, cheerful, patient and attentive to any needs. My fellow travellers were fun and supportive also! A great trip!
Explore the rugged reaches of the South Island on this six-day trip with Intrepid, beginning and ending in Queenstown. Make your way to the shores of the South Island’s biggest lake and sail the silent waters of glacier-carved Fiordland National Park with an unforgettable cruise on Milford Sound. Cross to the sometimes forgotten corner of Otago – the rugged cliffs of the Catlins – to hike to coastal caves, then span the gap to untouched Stewart Island to explore the wilderness, listening out for the call of the kiwi. Crafted to give the right amount of active adventure and time to relax, this is the perfect southern getaway.
Experience the best of New Zealand’s South Island on this twelve-day guided tour. Travel on the TranzAlpine, one of the world’s great train journeys, to the wild West Coast. Discover the Franz Josef Glacier on a guided walk with local experts. Journey along the Haast River in an enclosed jet boat, then travel to the picturesque former mining village of Arrowtown. Take time to explore Queenstown at your leisure — perhaps with a guided e-bike adventure or a serene cruise across Lake Whakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm for a meaningful Eco Experience. Then journey into the heart of Fiordland National Park for an overnight cruise through the untouched majesty of Doubtful Sound, complete with enriching insights from your onboard naturalist and exquisite cuisine crafted from local ingredients.
Show-stopping scenery. Timeless tradition. Awesome adventure. Time to discover New Zealand like never before. In 15 incredible days, you’ll go from traditional Māori towns to the incredible Abel Tasman National Park and even drive down the rugged west coast of the South Island. With dreamy landscapes of River Valley, plenty of adrenaline-pumping adventures in Queenstown and even witnessing geothermal activity IRL, this is as real as it gets.
