We saw a T-shirt in Africa that said “it’s not a holiday, it’s an adventure!“ This sums up exactly what this trip is about. Although it took some stamina to camp the entire time and the bus trips were long to get from destination to destination, this was an adventure like no other. Spinning, two nights roughing it in Okavango Delta was magical and we heard lions roaring at night. Our guides were outstanding and the food was better than I could possibly expect, especially since our cook did it all in a campground the safari walks and drives did not disappoint! Because we were there in July, the nights were bitterly cold, but we stayed cozy in the tents. This is definitely a trip for those seeking authentic adventure, but not for those who are uncomfortable with idea of sleeping in a tent for 10 days. Our Guide Pappy was, always so patient and so thorough with all of us and was a wealth of knowledge about the region. I love this trip, but it definitely is not for those unused to roughing it or are expecting luxury.

Overall the experience was amazing … as you can check and see we did multiple back to back tours and got an awesome appreciation for the countries and cultures we got to experience. Note there was a 2 week gap in the middle where we travelled with Rovos Rail which contributed to our overall experience but the NatGeo/GAd included village visits etc that allowed us to be up close and personal with people to appreciate their lifestyle.

A fantastic adventure that really transformed my previously negative view of group trips! Botswana, in particular, was absolutely stunning and GAdventures built an excellent itinerary to have an unforgettable experience in Southern Africa. I really enjoyed the trip and the way camping was mixed into the other accommodations. However, it would have been nice to have some more options for Cape Town add-ons, even if we couldn’t do all of them. I.e see Nelson Mandela’s prison. I also think the township tour should be an inclusion. The walking safari in Zambia was a bit too expensive though, considering we only did like 30-40min of walking. was fantastic in the way he welcomed us to his home country and spoke about life in Africa.
