This gentle and unhurried cycling holiday follows a triangular route through the heart of the great Loire Valley. Highlights include the majestic chateaux of Amboise and Chambord, and the rich Renaissance splendour of Chenonceau. You'll pass vineyards, sunflowers fields and pretty, sleepy villages, before pedalling gently along shady riverbanks and out through open countryside abundant with wildlife.
On each cycling day, you'll have the opportunity to taste dozens of different wines - stopping at big wineries or village vineyards as the mood takes you - in a wine region more varied and diverse than any other in the world.
Enjoy the sweet and peaceful 'Art de Vivre' in boutique hotels and relax with a glass of local wine by the pool.
The Loire is famous for its chateaux with over 300 in total to discover. This easy paced, gentle walking holiday balances peaceful, off-the-beaten-track discoveries, with the splendour and opulence of some of the finest Renaissance chateaux in France. There's no tough climbing but you're still rewarded with beautifully unspoilt landscapes and enchanting views at every turn.
You follow a linear route from Blois, passing quiet hamlets and wine villages, before continuing alongside the River Cher through Montrichard, Chenonceaux and Montlouis. Then, you'll enjoy wonderful walks through open fields and sprawling vineyards - with opportunities for wine-tasting - and on to Leonardo da Vinci's bustling town of Amboise. Along the way you'll take in some of France's most impressive chateaux: Chenonceau mesmerises with its iconic arches over the River Cher (be sure to taste the chateau's wine and enjoy a scenic riverside walk); the majestic Chateau d'Amboise is a former royal residence and also houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci; while Chateau de Chambord is set in a majestic nature reserve.
The places you'll stay in have been hand-picked for their superb locations, atmospheric charm, excellent cuisine and warm, friendly owners. As well as chateaux, the Loire prides itself on its delicious local cuisine and wine and we've included 2 evening meals - given the fantastic variety of restaurants on your doorstep, we thought you'd appreciate us leaving the choice to you.

Let yourself be carried by an inspiring cruise along the Garonne and the Dordogne. This will transport you to the heart of Bordeaux and its region. Our second trip with Explore, and both have been Fantastic. We had an excellent group to ride with, the bicycles were great, and the location, Provence, was amazing and beautiful. But what really pulled it together was our great team leader, Erwin. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, provided excellent guidance throughout this journey. And beyond that, he has a passion for Provence, its people, and its history, that he was able to effectively share with the group. He clearly spent the time researching and exploring the area to ensure we had the very best experience! We hope, and would feel very lucky, to ride with him again! Thanks!!!

Clever to schedule Paris tours on the weekend when there is less traffic. The long bus rides were nicely paced to include good rest stops and small villages to walk about. Happy to discover Lyon, Nice and Avignon.

Overall the trip was very good! we only had 4 people in our group and they picked us up from the hotel. they handled all the tickets to get into the tours, so all we had to do was show up. The lunch included was fantastic and the food was very good as well. Our driver was very nice and well informed about everything we did on the tour, including visiting the cathedral.

Excellent experience, highly recommended. I did the TMB 10 day hike with a small group of 7 people on 10th October 2025. Every day a new adventure with news landscapes, a new refuge, new cuisine. Our guide Madeleine was great fun, super informative and friendly. The weather was perfect! A bit of rain in day 1 but otherwise good.

The trip was well organized and every detail taken care of. The lodging arrangements were all fine - some excellent, some less so but were the best available. It was very easy to contact the local agent whenever we had questions. I would certainly travel with them again.
