My husband, Dr George Thomas & I have just completed a tour of a few cities in your beautiful country from 15th June to 22nd June. I wished to give you feedback regarding the trip from it's planning to its implementation.
1) Nick Cheng was a pleasure to deal with: Prompt, courteous and so approachable. I called him up many times, sometimes even beyond his official hours, but he was always available for me. I'm impressed by his professionalism, and his customized planning of an excellent holiday where I could enjoy the beauty, as well as, the culture of your great country. I grade him 10/10, a marvelous performance indeed!
2) All three guides, Simon, Susan and Anna were very good representatives of your country & its culture. They were informative without being pushy, respected time, allowed us to enjoy the sights and doubled up as friends & photographers when needed! I have fallen in love with your country because I saw many Chinese people were happy and comfortable with the lives they lead.
One week in China was an eye opening experience. I'm amazed & admiring of the changes wrought in the country & would love to visit again, when possible.
Regards,
Very passionate about making your experience as enjoyable as possible. My wife and I honeymooned in the Guilin and Yangshou area and again did a trip with this local travel specialist for our 10th anniversary.

From the cruise, you will have the best view of the West Lake and town of Hangzhou. After your cruise tour, head to the famed Lingyin Temple, also known as the Temple of the Soul's Retreat. There, your guide will tell you the history of the temple.

Inhabited by more than 500 households, Meijiawu Tea Culture Village is picturesque surrounded by mountains and waters. It is a main production base and protected area of the fragrant West Lake Dragon Well Tea. As a leisure tourist spot, it features tea culture in a farm style. This is truly the best way to get an insider look into China's tea culture.
After your tour of the Meijiawu Tea Village, board the vehicle and make your way back to your Shanghai accommodation.
The Beijing guide and driver will be holding a sign with your name written on it and pick you up from your hotel lobby at 18:20. Drive to the theater directly. Peking opera has more than 230 years of history. It is believed that Peking opera gradually came into being after 1790 when the famous four Anhui Opera Troupes came to Beijing. Peking opera developed quickly during the reign of Emperor Qianlong and the Empress Dowager Cixi under their imperial patronage, eventually becoming more common to the common people.
In ancient times, the costumes were a garish collection of sharply contrasting colors to stand out on the dimly illuminated stage only lit by oil lamps. Peking opera is a harmonious combination of the Grand Opera, ballet and acrobatics consisting of dance, martial arts and mime.
The Peking opera band mainly consists of an orchestra and percussion band. The former frequently accompanies peaceful scenes while the latter provides the right atmosphere for battle scenes. The commonly used percussion instruments include castanets, drums, bells and cymbals. One person usually plays the castanets and drums simultaneously, which conducts the entire band.
The orchestral instruments include the Erhu, Huqin, Yueqin, Sheng (reed pipe), Pipa (lute) and other instruments. The band usually sits on the left side of the stage. Afterwards, your Chinese driver will take you back to your hotel.
Truly unforgettable experience, and I can totally see why so many people on the tour had used G Adventures before. I will certainly be booking another one!

Chinese acrobatic art has its own features. The performance is deceptive, so the requirements for lighting is much more stricter than for opera. A successful acrobatic show also requires beautiful clothing. Costumes further enhance the beauty of the performance and increase the visual effects. This kind of art is still what it was centuries ago in that it does not overemphasize the role of music.
Performers pay more attention to the action, and the music perfectly coincides with the performance. The high level acrobatic program requires excellent technique coaching and extensive preparation time. When you watch a Chinese acrobatics show, you will be strongly impacted both mentally and physically. It is truly an unforgettable experience.
At present, Chinese acrobatics have developed into a kind of performance art. There are over 122 acrobatic teams above the county level in China, and Chinese acrobatics have won praise from audiences both at home and abroad along with gold medals in World Acrobatic Festivals in recent years. In the Beijing area, there is a famous theater where you watch acrobatics and other programs of entertainment.
Top acrobatic artists are invited from all over the country and the program shows trick cycling, leaping through hoops and Chinese magic tricks. Some of the artists have won prizes in international competitions. Spinning plates, juggling umbrellas, contortionists and acrobats fill the air. Finally, your Chinese driver will transfer you back to your hotel after show.
