At 7:00 am our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan to enjoy a day tour to the Temple of Kom Ombo standing on high grounds overlooking the Nile. It differs from other temples because of its double entrance, each one is dedicated to divinity: "Haroeris" with his falcon head and " Sobek " with his crocodile head. The Temple of Kom Ombo was built in an honor of two deities the crocodile-headed Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world, and Haroeris or the ancient falcon-headed Horus. Lunch box included. Then you will be transferred to Edfu by road to visit the majestic temple dedicated to Horus which is considered by most to be the best preserved cult temple in Egypt. This trip was fantastic. We participated in most of the optional extras. The best of which was the Balloon ride for the sunrise over the tombs and Nile. Our local explore tour guide Mariam was marvellous and she was so knowledgeable and friendly. Nothing was too much for her. She told us so much interesting information All sites seen in Cairo and on route were wonderful. The Cruise too was a joy. The optional light show in Karnak was not what was expected and I would say give it a miss! The beach extension hotel was clean, pools good, food excellent. The optional snorkelling by a local provider was a great disappointment and not what we had hoped for. Not many fish and not a good reef. But the boat trip was enjoyable too. There is are some areas of hotel need updating. Mini Golf/crazy golf course needs attention. Evening entertainment could have been better, but all in all we had a good relaxing 4 days there.

It is truly a wonderful experience, but at the same time a truly "educational one"! Our tour director, was exceptional not wasting a moment of any day, pointing out the very significant points of interests, at the same time, taking every part of this significant history in a chronological order. The accomodations and service, both on the boat and in the hotel were five start plus, since we live in the Palm Beaches and use to up-scale adventure, made the "Breakers", look like an outhouse.....need I say more! The value vs the price were evenly matched. As for shopping, once again, significant shops were selected to include, spice, perfumes, and of course jewelry. At the same time educationing you on their wares and how they are used. Like INSIGHT always does, is taking you inside the home of a residemt and demonstrates their current life style and habits, only in this example, demonstrated how bread was made not only for their family, but the entire neighborhood. Followed by a visit to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut that is known as El Dir El Bahari which was built by Queen Hatshepsut the daughter of Thutmosis I, who ruled Egypt about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (approximately 1490-1469 B.C), the only pharaonic woman who reigned ancient Egypt. Then continue your day tour to The Colossi of Memnon which are remains of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. Lunch is included at a local restaurant but beverages are not included. After lunch, continue on your day tour to the East Bank where you will visit Karnak & Luxor Temples. Karnak Temple is the greatest example of worship in the history, dedicated to the God Amon, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. Spend around 3 hours there, then continue your day tour visiting the Temple Of Luxor, which was built by Amunhotep III in 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom and it was completed by Ramesses II during the 19th Dynasty. We had a fantastic trip to Egypt. I am a single mum with a 10 and 12 year old. We were in a very small group with just one other family and we had a brilliant time. Mohammed, the group leader was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and fun and made everything run smoothly, even the bits that didn’t (don’t expect the train to be on time, however flashy the new station). He was fantastic with the kids and generous with his experience of all aspects of Egyptian life. The trip is pretty full on but there is downtime built in. We love Egypt and will definitely go back. We’ll also definitely do another holiday with explore. For me, being on my own with the kids, the group meant I got some downtime and everything being so well organised meant I felt like I got a holiday as well! As an added bonus it was no more expensive to have two rooms at the hotels! Would totally recommend.
