Lying north of the Annapurna Himalayan range, Upper Mustang, known as “the forbidden kingdom” is a semi-autonomous ancient kingdom that has only been open to foreign visitors since 1992. Visitors still require a special limited trekking permit from Nepal’s government, ensuring that only limited travelers visits this isolated area.
This trek is popular for it’s dry and wide landscapes, oasis Tibetan villages, mystical Buddhist monasteries and fossil stones that line the bank of the Kaligandaki River. The trip entailed an easy 10km walk in the local national park situated in the foothills of Kathmandu. The drive to the start of our trek was only 1hour away, but it was a perfect way to escape to the countryside from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu town. The campsite was perfectly set up and ready for our arrival, tents with beds and lighting and with a restaurant and bar which served the freshest food for lunch and then a lovely bbq in the evening. In the morning we had a few snowy mountains to greet us for breakfast and then after a short walk to the local village, we were then served lunch before out transport took us back down to Kathmandu.

The Annapurna circuit trek is an unforgettable journey of discovery that will take you through some of the most geographically and culturally diverse areas in Nepal.
The trek begins from Nagdi and you will make your way through picturesque villages such as Chamje and Chame. These are small well-known villages that act as a checkpoint for people who come to trek the Annapurna region. The path is full of breathtaking views of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The towering peak of Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare mountains stand tall and proud.
One of the greatest highlights (if not the greatest highlight) of this trek is crossing the Thorong La Pass, the highest navigable mountain pass in the world. Located at an altitude of 5,416 meters above sea level, things can get dangerous around here. But you will be on the hands of expert guides to assist you. The sense of achievement you’ll feel as you complete the checkpoints is what makes this trek great. You discover your resilience and strength as you discover the treasures of the Himalayas. Descending back, a completely new trail awaits you. This biking safari adventure takes you, at first, for a thrilling ride around the Kathmandu valley. As you ride up and down the hills and adventurous trails on your mountain bike, the beautiful Himalayas dominate the skyline. And then, the trip takes you to Chitwan National Park. Lonely Planet, the largest travel guide book publisher, says it is “one of the best wildlife-viewing national parks in Asia”.
You begin your biking adventure by paddling from Kathmandu. Enjoy riding in the bustling city and then start a challenging ride to Kakani, a quiet town atop a ridge. The hill station offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest (weather permitting). Ahead is a 9-km single track, known as “Scar Road”, which runs through Shivapuri National Park. In the trip, you will get lots of opportunities to ride in challenging trails. On Day 3 while biking from Shivapuri village to Chisapani, you will ride on a single biking trail known as “30 Minutes of Heaven”.
From Chisapani, cycle to Nagarkot, which is another popular hill station offering the breathtaking sights of the snow-white peaks. The major attraction of staying overnight at Nagarkot is the sunrise in the morning. Wake up before dawn and go out on the balcony. You will be amazed at the scenery. The sun rays light up the Himalayan mountains and turn them from white to red and gold.
From Nagarkot, ride for 5 km along a ridge at first. You will pass through beautiful towns that have preserved their cultures well and have distinct medieval look. They are Panauti and Dhulikhel, both of which are Newari towns. You will stay at Dhulikhel today. The next morning’s ride will take you from Dhulikhel to Banepa via the sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site, Namobuddha. From Banepa you will be picked up and driven back to Kathmandu. You will pass through a giant statue of Shiva, one of the significant Hindu gods along the way.
When the biking tour ends, the safari adventure begins. Take a drive to Chitwan National Park. At the park, you will do lots of activities such as elephant safari, canoeing, jungle safari, visit to elephant breeding centre and watching wildlife. You will get to watch some of the rare wild birds and animals and plants.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the best short treks in Nepal and offers spectacular views of the Himalaya’s Annapurna Range. The eight-day guided tour takes you from the capital of Kathmandu to the Lake City of Pokhara to Poon Hill.

Start your trip from Kathmandu and make your way to the picturesque city of Pokhara. Your actual trek begins after a drive to Nayapool as you make your way to Ghorepani through Ulleri. You will pass lush rhododendron forests and swift-flowing waterfalls as you ascend and descend through numerous valleys.
Poon Hill is just an hour uphill from Ghorepani. Before the break of dawn, trek to Poon Hill, an hour uphill from Ghorepani, dor spectacular views. On your way back, pass Ghandruk for a glimpse of the local Gurung culture, capping off a great trip to the Himalayas.
If you don’t have enough time, are hiking with family, or prefer a short and easy adventure, this day hike from Pokhara to Australian Camp and Dhampus is a perfect choice. The journey begins with a 2.5-hour uphill hike from Kande through forests and villages, offering breathtaking views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli.
After a scenic lunch at Australian Camp, enjoy a gentle 45-minute downhill walk to Dhampus village. This Gurung village gives you a glimpse of local life, terraced fields, and traditional hospitality. It’s a great option for those seeking light hiking, nature, and culture—all in one day, close to Pokhara.
Nagurjun Hike is a day program with a hike to the nearby Nagarjun hill located 23 km north-west of Kathmandu city. Nagarjun hill is at 6300 feet above the sea-level and this program is one of the popular day hikes around Kathmandu Valley.
The hike is through Shivapuri National Park which has abundant flora and faunas. Upon reaching the top, the summit provides majestic panorama view of the entire Kathmandu Valley including the snow-capped mountains like Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal and other majestic Himalayan peaks.
Any age groups can participate in this and it gives a nice approach to what it’s like to be hiking in the Himalayan region, albeit much closer to Kathmandu City, compared with e.g. a trek to Annapurna Circuit.

This trek combines the quiet and little visited paths of the Tamang Heritage Trail, formerly a restricted area for trekkers, with the spectacular high mountain scenery of the Langang National Park.
Often overlooked, Langtang treks mountainous region to the north of Kathmandu provide some of Nepal's most spectacular scenery, and trekking in this area is as good as anywhere in the country. The soaring, snow-capped mountains at the head of the Langtang valley, and the rich cultural heartlands of the Tamang people in the lower foothills combine to make this a perfect trekking alternative to the better known Everest and Annapurnas treks.
You begin your tour in Kathmandu where you'll have a free evening to explore this bustling city. There's also time for any last minute purchases to take on your trek.
Following the Trisuli River north out of Kathmandu, we drive you to Syabrubesi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park where your trek begins and you spend the first night in a trekking lodge. Staying in lodges allows you to spend more time meeting and talking with other trekkers and guides in the evenings, as well as enjoying a little more comfort at the end of each day and contributing to the local economy.
From Syabrubesi, you spend the first leg of the trek following the quiet Tamang Heritage Trail through an area heavily influenced by Tibet which was a restricted area for trekkers until 2014. You'll see lush terraced farmland, tiny homesteads and villages and learn a lot about typical rural Nepali mountain life. The tour then heads up the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as you travel up along the gorge-like, lower section of the valley. You pass through oak and rhododendron forests and trek across glacial moraine on your way to the village of Langtang which was hit hard by the 2015 earthquake.
A little further up the valley is Kyangin Gompa, where you spend 3 nights and have plenty of time to explore the local area. You can do several day-walks from here such as ascending Cherko Ri (4984m) for some amazing views, or continuing up the Langtang Khola to Langshisha Karka.
After backtracking down the valey, you then travel through Sing Gompa for some more spectacular views before finishing the trek and driving back to Kathmandu. Extensions are available to visit Chitwan or Bardia National Parks, try some white-water rafting or perhaps even a home stay in a nearby Newari village.
