Explore Guangzhou and learn of the ancient metropolitan's evolution throughout the centuries in this four-hour morning tour.
Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, discover the exquisite craftsmanship of the region's artisans in the ancestral temple of the Chen family, wander around the beautiful Shamian Island with its European heritage, and visit the restored canal of Lizhiwan Brook.
Your tour guide will meet you at your downtown hotel at around 8:00 - 8:30 am, and transfer you around Guangzhou in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.
First, head to the Chen Clan Academy, the ancestral temple of the Chen family. The temple, built in quintessential Guangdong architecture, is famed for its extensive collection of art pieces of wood, stone, and brick carving and metalwork. The special historical, artistic and scientific significance of the temple makes it one of the major cultural attractions in Guangzhou.
Proceed to Shamian Island, a concession area for the French and the British in the 19th century. The colonial history of the area has left a distinct European footprint on the island with western-style architecture abound. Wander around its quiet streets to understand firsthand the region's diverse history.
Conclude your guided tour with a vision of an idealized Guangzhou in the 19th century at the restored Lizhiwan Brook canal.
Afterwards, the guide will drop you off at Beijing Road before 12 noon. Here you could continue sightseeing on your own or take public transportation to your next destination.
Take an entire day to explore two sides of Beijing: the old and the new. Visit the modern Beijing landmarks in the form of the Beijing Zoo and the Olympic Green. While catch glimmers of the ancient side of the city at the Lama Temple, along hutongs and at Jingshan Park.
Your friendly local tour guide will pick you up from your downtown Beijing between 7 am - 8 am and get you settled in a comfortable coach to start the full-day Beijing sightseeing.
First, head on to the Beijing Zoo. The site is comprised of 16 different exhibition areas and halls, but the most popular one is the Panda Hall, which houses the lovely giant pandas. Afterwards, visit the Olympic Green and witness firsthand the grand designs of the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube, instantly remarkable from the 2008 Olympics.
Continue to the Lama Temple (Yonghe Lamasery). The temple is considered the largest and the best-preserved lamasery in China. This exceptional temple is a glittering attraction, where layered roofs, fabulous frescoes, tapestries, carpentry and Tibetan prayer wheels guarded by a pair of Chinese lions mingle with dense clouds of incense.
Then enjoy a traditional Chinese cuisine lunch in local restaurant, and move on to hutong tour. Hutongs are the ancient alleyways made by the traditional courtyards. These reflect ways of the old, but are rapidly being demolished to make way for new roads and buildings. However, some are designated as protected area and some others are packed with various boutique stores offering a lively atmosphere.
Later go to Jingshan Park, a former imperial garden, and get the best and the clearest view of the Forbidden City.
Finally, complete your full-day guided tour with a visit to a silk shop, browse through some Chinese traditional silk arts and get gifts for your relatives back home. You will be then transferred back to your hotel.
There is no better way to explore Hanoi by jumping on a bike and meandering through the traffic and Red River Delta.
The tour will start from either 7:30 am or 12:30 pm. At this time our tour guide shall collect you from your hotel and bring you to where the bikes are located and your adventure will start.
First, we will cross the Red River by Long Bien bridge (built by Paul Doumer who also designed the Eiffel Tower) constructed from 1989 to 1902 during the French’s colonial occupation of the country. From the bridge, you can see greenery below and we shall continue along through rice paddies and farms.
You will meet local people and see how they work. If you fancy, you shall also have an opportunity to take the load off their shoulders, join in and learn all about them.
Continue biking through small roads with nice landscapes before arriving at Co Loa in Dong Anh District to see the ancient citadel, built in 257 BC.
Next see a fruit farm where you can pick some fruit and explore before next stopping for a traditional Vietnamese lunch.
Once you have finished in your own time, we shall take you back to your hotel where the trip will end. Trip ends at 1:30 pm (morning option) and 5:30 pm (afternoon option) at your hotel in Hanoi
