This was our first trip with explore for my husband and me . The programme was varied and interesting and the travel and accommodation comfortable with airconditioning . The walking was easy for active people . Good group size and very friendly , organised and knowledgeable guide /tour leader that looked after us throughout the whole trip . It is a busy schedule involving many hour travelling but this allowed us to have a good overview of the country in just 2 weeks one thing I got wrong in my preparation was the clothes I brought . I had taken too many long trousers and tops for the hot and humid weather as I had ready that shorts above the knee and sleeveless tops were best not from à col rural point of view when actually shorts , dresses and sandals would have been appropriate for our evenings and cities and sleeveless tops for our hikes

I am thrilled to share my experience of the amazing Gokyo Valley Trek. This journey was nothing short of extraordinary! From start to finish, every moment was filled with adventure, breathtaking views, and a sense of accomplishment.
Our guide, a true gem, added an extra layer of excitement to the entire trek. Not only was he knowledgeable and experienced, but he also had a fantastic personality that made the journey even more enjoyable. His ability to connect with each trekker individually and provide insightful information about the surroundings was truly commendable. He made sure we were well-informed about the route, local culture, and any potential challenges we might face along the way.
The trek itself was a perfect blend of fun and challenge. The trails took us through picturesque landscapes, allowing us to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of the Gokyo Valley. Each step brought us closer to the basecamp, and the anticipation grew with every passing day.
Undoubtedly, reaching the basecamp was the ultimate reward. Standing amidst the majestic mountains, surrounded by pristine snow-capped peaks, was an experience beyond words. Walking, wildlife, food and culture: this tour ticked a lot of boxes for me. It is true that the poor visibility at this time of year (March) meant that the Annupurna mountains weren't visible during much of the trek, but the landscape with its flora, fauna and small farms still made the walking interesting and enjoyable. A special highlight was seeing the one-horned rhinoceros at the Chitwan National Park, and the cultural events staged at the Green Chwadi Retreat at Chitwan were an unexpected bonus. There was a wealth of birds to see throughout the tour, and our tour leader, Su, was very knowledgeable in identifying them. As someone who is unable to eat gluten, I had been worried about how I would cope with the food; and I am extremely grateful to Su for helping me to navigate this, as well as ensuring that there were always things available for me to eat.

Being a solo traveller I was looking for a group adventure holiday to Asia. My friend recommended Explore Simply Thailand and this was my first solo adventure tour with Explore. It was a great holiday for singles and couples alike. There were people on our tour of all ages, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. This tour was perfectly paced and provided flexibility for those who wanted to take things a little easier.
Everyone on the tour got on so well. We had so much fun. I love travelling in a group, sharing experiences and laughs.
