Explore the glistening bodies of water and enjoy stunning views of the Himalayas from Gokyo Ri before heading back to Lungden via the Renjo La Pass. Then continue your downhill journey via Thame and Namche to reach Lukla, from where you will catch your flight home.
The Gokyo Valley is home to six glacial lakes that hold special significance to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is also known for Gokyo Ri (5,357m), which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Although not as well known as Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, the views of Mount Everest from Gokyo Ri are said to surpass those from Kala Patthar. Other peaks that you can see from Gokyo Ri include Mount Cho Oyo (8,153m), Mount Makalu (8,475m) and Mount Lhotse (8,511m).
The other highlight of this trip is the Ngozumba Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal that is also the source of the lakes in the Gokyo Valley. The best months for this trek are from September to December and February to May.
This 12-day Langtang and Gosaikunda trek is a wonderful combination of the remote and isolated Langtang Valley as well as the breathtaking high-mountain lake of Gosaikunda. Your journey starts from Kathmandu, from where you travel by road to Syabrubesi, the starting point of your trek. Head for Kyanjin Gompa, a small hamlet surrounded by mountains, and having taken in the sights of the Himalayas, continue your journey to Gosaikunda Lake, where you will reach on the eighth day of this trip.

Mera Peak (6,461 m), the highest trekking mountain in Nepal, is reached via Mera Peak Climbing. Anyone with a little bit of mountaineering experience should climb Mera Peak. Due to its elevation, it is a difficult trekking peak, although only very basic technical climbing skills are needed. Off-the-beaten-path in the rarely visited Hinku Valley is the climb to Mera Peak. The trail is isolated, the surroundings are untamed and clean, and there are not many populated areas. You'll spend the most of your nights in teahouses at yak herders' summer camps or remote kharkas.
Although Mera Peak is not particularly difficult technically, it is tall at 6476 m, has a long summit day, and is exposed to the elements. You need to drink plenty of water and keep your pace manageable and slow. Although the snow route itself is not particularly difficult, it is a long day out and will wear you out. You must feel at ease moving while cinched in and keeping a safe line while moving on a man rope. You also need to know how to walk in crampons and use your walking axe to self-arrest. We set up a high camp for this peak, so you should be comfortable camping on snow. It's also crucial to stay warm, dry, hydrated, and well-fed to be in the best condition on summit day.
