Let me be upfront, this wasn’t a glamorous vacation. It was muddy. It was dusty. We had early mornings, long drives, and a few mosquito bites. But will I want to experiemce this again? Yes!
The tour was well organized, and the guide was a legend! Quite funny, patient, and ridiculously sharp-eyed. Samburu was our first real dive into the wild, and it delivered. We saw elephants on day one, and from there it just kept coming, leopards, hyenas, even a rare kudu.
One afternoon near Lake Nakuru, our vehicle got stuck in a patch of thick mud. Instead of getting annoyed, our group jumped out (after checking for nearby buffalo, obviously) and helped push. That’s the moment I’ll remember, complete strangers working together in the middle of Kenya. What impressed me most was how fast the team coordinated with support. Another vehicle was ready to assist if needed and our guide handled it all with total calm. You could tell they’ve got experience.
The boat ride at Naivasha was another highlight. There’s something eerie and beautiful about hippos watching you from the waterline. Then came Masai Mara, which just floored me. We saw a lion cub playing with its sibling and a herd of wildebeest thundering past. It’s a feeling out of the world.
The accommodations were decent, nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and always ready with a warm meal. And I appreciated how the team kept things running smoothly from behind the scenes. Airport pickup was seamless, the group size was just right, and every transition from lodge to lodge was effortless for such a packed itinerary.
If you want pristine perfection maybe look elsewhere. But if you want raw beauty, real moments, and a sense of the world beyond your bubble, this is it. Hats off to the team for making it all flow.

My husband and I decided to climb Kilimanjaro as part of our honeymoon trip to Tanzania. Our tour operator was absolutely brilliant from the word go! Our team, and especially our guides, Rashid and Osmani, went above and beyond to help us reach the summit. They were so friendly, professional and every detail was taken care of - including providing hot water bottles for our sleeping bags in the cold nights. Our guides were only too happy to show us extra insight about the mountain, as well as teaching us some Swahili! We couldn't have made it to the summit without their help and support. All 7 members of the team (porters,chef, waiter, guides) were keen to meet us and even performed a song for us, which was really moving. Although we spent less time with the porters and chef team, when we did see them they were always smiling and keen to talk to us, and did all their tasks with enthusiasm. The level of customer service we experienced was outstanding and we cant think of anything that could have been improved. We will have amazing memories of this trip, thank you so much!! Great trip with very good leaders in Weston, Gift and Dean. Well organised and informative. It can be hard work breaking camp most mornings, often quite early starts, and then setting up each evening, often at sunset. Client participation essential to make it all work. Food simple yet sustaining with good variety. Surprised the vehicle was not airconditioned as at times very hot.

This was an excellent trip very efficiently run. Two nights in every location except the last worked well. The accommodation standard was excellent and all the food was very good, including that prepared by the leaders. The trip was a very good mixture of game driving, hiking, a history day and driving days (I enjoy seeing the countryside and I listen to audio books to help pass the time). The last two and a half hiking days in the Drakensberg were a real highlight. Only one day, the hike in Eswatini, failed to impress as it was on a big track most of the time. Overall, this gives a very good introduction to the east of South Africa with not too much time spent in the truck. Oh, and the truck was very spacious and comfortable, not a minibus as I expected.

Our Marangu route Kilimanjaro trek last week was incredible. We had the best service from the crew of experienced guides and porters. They were experienced on guiding travelers and knew what to do at all times.
Trekking up Kilimanjaro is fun and enjoyable, despite the difficult sections close to the summit, however our crew led us through them.
Service was top class, good waterproof tents, comfortable sleeping bags, good food and regular health checks. We had the best of everything!

We had 2 fantastic game drives with our guide. He was very caring and a perfect guide. He knows the national parks (Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro) inside out. A group of 4 climbers from India, along with 3 friends from the UK, completed an arduous climb via the 7-day Machame Route with Aardvark Expeditions, and they exceeded our every expectation along the way.
The first impression we had of Aardvark Expeditions (Philemon Joel) was one of speed in responding to our requests, providing clear directions, and making truthful declarations about what to expect when we booked. Booking our climb was made easy due to the assistance provided by the sales team.
During the actual climb, the guiding team of Bariki and Jonathan performed exceptionally well. They were vigilant in their monitoring of climbers, supported us when altitude sickness hit, and continuously provided motivation throughout our trek on the mountain.
The summit day was incredibly emotional, and all Aardvark Expeditions staff were there at the summit to celebrate with us for achieving our goal. This is a company that genuinely cares about every person who climbs for them. A five-star rating does not do enough justice for the value provided by the staff at Aardvark Expeditions.
