Scandinavia Polar expeditions cruise Trips

Very comprehensive itinerary! I feel like I really got to experience the Nordic countries. Variety of travel—-bus, ferries, fjord cruise…all that was missing was the Flam railroad. Chance of a lifetime to cross the Arctic Circle and see the midnight sun. City tours have good insight as well. Very pleased with the tour!

The itinerary allowed us to see many places in Scandinavia that we would not have thought of by ourselves. The coach is comfortable, with many rest/comfort stops on long driving days. The hotels are well chosen. The food plentiful and delicious. Both our Tour Director and Driver were excellent. They were entertaining and perfectly suited to their tasks. Especially on the Trollstigen Road. We never felt worried about the hairpin turns. And the whole while, our Tour Director was entertaining us with stories of The Mountain Trolls, The Askeladden Boy and the music of Grieg and AC/DC. All round, it was a FANTASTIC holiday!

Explore delivered a holiday that exceeded expectations with Aurora an excellent choice of operator. They also responded promptly and well to a late flight cancellation. We have already booked another trip with them.

The Realm of the Polar Bear trip lived up to my expectations in that we did see Polar Bears as well as walruses, lots of sea birds, artic foxes and distant views of whales. I would however say that you need to be physically fit to enjoy the full experience, some of the walks on land were strenuous and although you could opt out of the walks and just beach comb you could miss a lot.

This itinerary has a lot of time above the Arctic Circle and covers a lot of area rather than concentrating on large cities. There are some incredible experiences including crossing the Arctic Circle twice, Santa Claus Village, North Cape, reindeer farms, husky farms, ancient rock paintings, so many majestic mountains, waterfalls and fjords. Some of the things seen are optional excursions.

A lot of driving in the bus but necessary to cover the full length of Finland and Norway. The scenery out of the bus window is the main attraction as it keeps changing and is spectacular. The buses are designed for maximum comfort and scenery viewing and I didn’t take my eyes off the scenery for a minute especially in Norway as we drove beside countless fjords and over mountain passes and past gushing waterfalls coming off the melting snow. May June is a good time to go as there is still good snow cover on the peaks to make the photos more interesting
