Reviews of our Yerevan Tours for Summer
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Yerevan during Summer.
Being across two countries, we had two leaders for our tour. Both were excellent, albeit in different ways. Both exhibited a fund of knowledge about their respective nations and both added greatly to the enjoyment of our travels.
This was another thoroughly enjoyable Explore trip to a fascinating part of the world in terms of its rich history and present-day geopolitical relevance. The group we were travelling with bonded very quickly and were great company throughout the trip. Both tour leaders, Armene (Armenia) and Alex (Georgia) were excellent, communicated their knowledge and love of their respective countries with infectious enthusiasm and were genuinely lovely people. Both drivers also did a great job on sometimes less than perfect roads. There were multiple highlights but worth special mention would be both capital cities, Yerevan and Tblisi, the basalt rock formations along the Garni River Gorge, the spine-tingling medieval choral music at Geghard Monastery, a performance of La Traviata at Yerevan Opera House that wildly exceeded expectations, the amazing 12th-C cave settlement remains at Vardzia, hiking in the spectacular Kazbegi Mountains, plus all the amazing regional food and drink we sampled throughout the trip. Georgia's reputation as a bit of a foodie heaven is entirely justified. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip!
Alex the tour leader and country guide for Georgia is excellent and shares his wide knowledge of the Caucasus region in an easily understandable manner. Whilst both the country guides for Azerbaijan and Armenia also very good. The overall itinerary is very varied and covers lots' of different aspects of all three countries. I particularly enjoyed the hike up to the Gergeti Trinity Church with all the snow capped high peaks of the Caucasus mountains all around. The trip is fairly fast paced and covers a lot of ground, so you need to understand that it's a great introduction or taster trip to these three fascinating countries and if you want a more in depth experience then you'd need to go back and spend more time there.
These three small countries are not small to be visited. They are great and amazing, rich with historical sites and picturesque panoramas. With Shabby as our tour leaders our journey became full with joy and memorable. Thank you Shabby, thank you tour operator.
We really enjoyed our tour. The itinerary and the optional excursions were top notch. The connection between the fellow travelers was not as developed as on other tours we had with Expat, maybe because less time was spent in the couch. The guide exceeded expectations, being very organized and trying to satisfy every and each fellow travelers request. You will certainly see us back next year.
Shabby and the local guides were dealing with a new tour and handled every bump with good humor. I especially loved the mix of fellow travelers. Mixing with people from around the world enhanced an already exciting trip.
