Magical wildlife holiday

This was my first Exodus trip and it was a wonderful two weeks exploring Costa Rica with a small group of 7, our fantastic guide Guillermo and excellent driver Carlos. Two nights in each location, very different landscapes. We saw a huge number of creatures and an amazing 174 species of birds. Great hotels and excellent airport pick up in San Jose. This holiday was fabulous!

Great trip that covered key highlights of Costa Rica. Tour manager was phenomenal, extremely knowledgable. Hotels used were very good and transport provided was a great standard with an exceptional driver. Couldn’t fault the trip or service provided.

This was an incredible way to experience Costa Rica. There’s no way we could have seen and done so much on our own—being part of the tour made all the difference. Our tour guide was outstanding, and our driver was equally amazing, getting us everywhere safely with impressive skill. Navigating the narrow roads and tucked-away spots in the forest was truly remarkable. I highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it!

Unique, one in a lifetime places to visit. Great Tour Director and Bus Driver. Always on the move (early am departures) but they cover three great locations in a week. Tortuguero Park is only accessible by boat. Lots of rain (it's a rain forest) but managed to keep dry. The Lodge is 20 yards from the Caribbean on one side and 20 yards from the river on the other. Beautiful. All hotels/lodges were great. Awesome views. The hikes were more like lazy nature walks. Great for bird watchers; I like more movement but you have to respect what others in the group are there for. Group size was large at 42. Made good friends and everyone was nice; but 30 would have been a better group size. Food varied. Buffets were repetitive; filling but average. Open dinner nights, that you pay for, were very good. Bus rides could be long and bumpy. But they're taking you to out of the way places and they make stops along the way to break it up. The stops (Quintana Family - great dinner- The chocolatiers - very good) great and worthwhile. Hot Springs was great and a highlight. Did not do the Zip Lines as I'm a bit older. Enjoyed the Hanging Bridges (not as scary as people think). Not crazy about the La Fortuna Guided walk excursion. Weak and for bird/nature people. Great value for the cost of this trip. Would recommend it to anyone open minded and active. This is not a sit at the beach vacation. Had a great time and enjoyed meeting new people.

We saw a lot and I loved the trip but there is a lot of time on the bus because of it showing so many amazing sites. Just keep that in mind it's a trade off to see so much. I would love to go back again and see more. Also the wait time in the airport was very long and there was nothing to do at the end. Drop off was at 11am and our flight was at 7pm.

Excellent!

From steamy Tortoguero, with the howler monkeys waking us up at 5.00am (no need for an alarm!) to cool, mountainous Savegre thronging with hummingbirds, this was a tour of contrasting habitats each with their own variety of wildlife, plants and flowers. In addition to the wildlife elements of the tour, visits to the Aquiares coffee factory and CAITE research centre were incredibly interesting. The optional visit to the Bri Bri community was well worth it; we learned all about how chocolate is made from scratch and had great fun trying each part of the process. While there were some longer travel days, they were well paced, never felt too onerous and we often saw interesting things en route. The boat trips were fantastic- just getting to Tortoguero and to Drake Bay were experiences in themselves, with opportunity to see lot of wildlife on the way. The snorkelling trip was amazing- we were able to swim above sea turtles, rays and amongst lots of colourful fish. Even if you don't snorkel, the boat trip was worth doing- we saw a pod of humpback whales quite close to the boat, and a variety of birds. The accommodation was comfortable and in all the hotel grounds we were able to spot a variety of wildlife- great for photographers who enjoy having a camera/phone in one hand and a 'sundowner' in the other!
