Reviews of our Montreal Tours for Summer
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Montreal during Summer.
Some of the tours were kind of ho hum. Others were very good. The native homestead tour was below par. There is potential there but needs development. The speaker was very good. Hotels were excellent to average. Breakfasts were all good except at the Lord Elgin Hotel. Very average and fruit way below average there. City tours, Niagara Falls, and the Maple Syrup Sugar Shack excursions were very good. Roger the tour guide was excellent. I liked the assigned rotating seats arrangement he used as did others on the tour.
We had bad weather the whole tour (cold, cloudy, and misty). Our tour manager had to fill in for someone else and knew very little about Canada. Fortunately, our bus driver who was a native of Canada and knowledgeable about this particular tour, helped her immensely. It was not her fault, and under the circumstances, she did great!
Niagara Falls was great! The tour should NOT be recommended for someone who has trouble walking. There are many on and off the bus. Many stairs and much walking of more than one block. My travel companion used a cane and I WAS TOLD I was responsible for helping her on and off the bus by the bus driver who was told by the tour guide to say this. Next I knew we were always seated in the back of the bus. I wasn’t feeling well the Wednesday before the last day so I did not go on the Wednesday afternoon tour. Thursday I did not go on tour either. Felt better Thursday evening so I thought I’d go to the last dinner. I wore a masked as not to contaminate anyone. Tour directed advised me not to go so I stayed back. She said I would receive a 3-5% credit. Still waiting to get the credit!
I, like many other would liked to have spent more time at Niagara Falls. That was the highlight of the tour for me. We spent only a few hours there. I would have liked to have seen the falls at night. Too much time on the bus. Too much free time. I knew the Blue Jays were playing a baseball game and we had to pass the stadium 2 times (on the bus) It would have been fun to have had that option to go to a game. I did enjoy all the greenery especially since I live in the desert. The churches were beautiful. Would have liked to see more older parts of the country. Compared to other trips for the cost, and all free time, and traveling this trip rates on the lower side.
