Istanbul Tour Reviews
Guest reviews from travelers on tours in and around Istanbul
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and found it both intellectually stimulating and a pleasure to experience. We were well cared for by our friendly and competent guide and stalwart driver in a comfortable van. The itinerary included ancient and modern sites, city and countryside, mountains and seaside vistas and enough physical challenges to keep us in good shape after all the fine meals. It was filled with unforgettable historical places such as Troy and Ephesus, plus many less well known Roman and earlier cities. The underground city of Kaymakli in Cappadocia plus the numerous caves in the Goreme open air museum gave us a sense of how our ancestors survived in a challenging world. Our day off in Kas gave us the opportunity to relax on board a tour boat (a highly recommended extra) in the Aegean with several stops for swimming in the clear water. The tour began and ended in Istanbul which is endlessly fascinating both as the ancient capital of several empires and a thoroughly modern major city in a dynamic country. In conclusion, we would recommend this tour for those who have a curiosity of how the modern world came about and those who just want to have a great time in good company in a beautiful place. PS - the hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia (also an extra) is a marvellous addition.
The places visited were all intrinsically linked to the history of Türkiye and helped us to really understand the country. The distances between our stops were sometimes large, but pitstops were made, which kept us going. It can feel gruelling at times, but it was worth it. Be aware that you really do need to be physically fit, not just for the stops, but simply getting on and off the bus.
We couldn’t fault the experience. Our guide was amazing, she was so organised and knowledgeable and helpful throughout our trip. The hotels were lovely. On checkin our guide would phone ahead so when we arrived we would be given our room key and bags taking to our room within minutes. The meals were amazing also. The driver was incredible, very smooth and always at the step of the bus to help everybody out safely. Our bags were taken from the bus so we didn’t need to lift them. The excursion we were taken to were first class and our guide knew all about the history. This trip was first class and would have to be the best ever trip we have done. Happy client from New Zealand
This is a particularly enjoyable experience as it unlocks a door to the people and culture of a part of the world that has some incredible sights, unforgettable scenery, and people who respect and preserve their past, while they are fully immersed in bringing this to the attention of any lucky visitor, by providing people with all the modern conveniences needed to have a memorable time in Türkiye.
Simply......don't hesitate, book this tour! The timing is at a brisk pace, but it enabled us to cover several cities and see so much history in a short time. Our TD was excellent....giving us modern and ancient history which enriched our travel. All hotels were satisfactory and one was a standout for food and accommodations. Many dinners are included which was a plus. Highlights for me: the "Be My Guest" luncheon in a country village, the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the "Hidden Gem" visit to a private cave home, the Cappadocia region in general, and the Whirling Dervish Ceremony (optional excursion). In my book, good value in this tour. Note: If you are a cat person, be sure to bring cat treats because you will meet many community cats.
Itinerary was varied with huge content suiting all clients interested in history, economics, environmental, culture and leisure. Istanbul is a vibrant busy city with so much to see and experience so an extra day or two there would allow time to visit all the sights and soak up the atmosphere of this truely unique city.
