Funchal Tours in Summer

This was my first group tour and it was a truly fantastic experience! Our group leader was so knowledgeable and a great asset to our group, he went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy. The tour of Madeira showcased the fabulous landscape, industry and local people. I had the most amazing time and would encourage anyone who is thinking about going to book!

Madeira is a beautiful island and Explore's Family Adventure enabled us to enjoy its many splendours in a perfectly curated itinerary, led by a fabulous local tour guide - Benny - whose passion and energy was contagious. The itinerary was perfectly paced, with a diverse range of great adventures to keep us all engaged, with plenty of time for relaxation too. Benny's encyclopedic knowledge of the island and great connections within it, ensured that we discovered some great hidden gems and got the optimum value from every experience.

Our tour leader was fabulous with his extensive knowledge of the region peppered with anecdotes of his childhood. We felt like we were a fly on the wall for real Madeiran culture.

Our tour leader Benny was exceptional in making this tour a wonderful experience. His attention to all participants' interests and preferences was exceptional. He gave us experiences that felt personal and individual. We rarely met across other tour groups. in some cases, our hikes were completely isolated, which is optimal. His reccommendation for evening meals was excellent and facilitated lively conversations. What a wonderful holiday!!

Best way to spend a week in Madeira. The trip was exceptional with 5 great hikes and extraordinary views at each turn. It was a full bloom season and and that made every hike interesting. Hiking through lush green mountains with the sea always in sight- it was just beautiful. The trials along the Levadas (ancient water channels) were very interesting. Dip in the natural pools at Porto Moniz or in the hotel after the hikes were worth it. Aqua Natura Bay was the best stay and had great meals at the hotel. Till the last hike, everything worked out perfectly. This is a great itinerary to explore Madeira -its culture and natural beauty of the Island.

It's the second time I've done this trip with Explore. It's just a lovely holiday on a beautiful island, with a nice easy paced itinerary and every day is enjoyable. The coastline, mountains, flora and fauna are amazing for such a small island and Funchal is a really nice old town with lots of nice restaurants and shops to look around and squares and gardens to sit and enjoy a coffee. I'll definitely be going back again.
