If you’re trying to see Panama in one week, you need to plan your itinerary well. Begin in the capital, Panama City, and embark on a city tour. Check out the UNESCO-listed Colonial Quarter, which has Spanish-era ruins, historic architecture, and museums like the Museum of Old Panama and the Panama Canal Museum. Stop off at Miraflores Locks to see boats pass through the iconic Panama Canal before heading to the mountain town of Boquete. Arrive and hit the trails through the lush greenery to waterfalls and through the magical cloud forest. Head to the Pipeline Trail and try to spot sloths and monkeys. Next, get your caffeine hit on a coffee tour of Boquete, visiting the many coffee shops, fincas (coffee farmers), and more. Don’t forget to try the geisha coffee. Leave the city behind and hit the road on the Pan-American Highway to El Valle. This small hamlet has a great handicraft market and an orchid center, and you can easily hike to the stunning Chorro El Macho waterfall. Next, journey to the coastal region of Coronado, known for its beautiful beach towns with great community vibes. Explore the main town, also called Coronado, where you can visit different restaurants and bars, learn to surf, or check out the Coronado Dry Forest walking trail. Travel into the mountains to the Chiriqui Province and spend a day exploring the small capital of the area, David. Explore Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra Park or wander around the shops. Finally, head into the highlands to the mountain paradise of Boquete. Here, you can go white-water rafting, hike in lush greenery, go on coffee tours, and even fly through the air on a zipline.
