For a short trip, we recommend a short city break: Prague, Cesky Krumlov and Brno would all be excellent choices. If you’ve got itchy feet, consider a day trip to the countryside.
Itinerary #1: Discover Prague

Four days will give you plenty of time for an in-depth exploration of Prague, one of Europe’s finest capital cities. Discover the historic old town known as Staré Město. The Astronomical Clock, located in the Old Town Square, has been mesmerizing locals and visitors alike for 600 years. Across town, you’ll want to check out Nové Město or the New Town. Keep your eyes peeled for unique art, notably the famous ‘Man Hanging Out’ statue, which is actually of Sigmund Freud. Although hardly new, pop into Havelské Tržiště Market, which has been flogging fresh produce and local handicrafts since 1232. At Prague Castle, the main draw is St Vitus Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece that took 600 years to complete. Don’t miss Golden Lane, a charming alley of colorful homes - this is the spot for the Instagram crowd and literary geeks can also check out Franz Kafka’s former home. Before you go, get to grips with Prague’s more recent history, visit the sobering Memorial to the Victims of Communism and the uplifting John Lennon Wall.
Itinerary #2: Explore Brno and Moravia

Overview | Activity | Overnight | |
Day 1 | Arrive in Brno and enjoy a walking tour of the town | Arrival | Brno |
Day 2 | Discover the architecture of Brno and sample Czech cuisine | Local culture | Brno |
Day 3 | Enjoy a day trip through the South Moravia countryside | Sightseeing | Brno |
Day 4 | Relax and perhaps enjoy a culinary tour of Brno | Departure |
Looking to spend four days off the beaten path? Begin with a walking tour of Czechia’s second city, Brno, to get your bearings. One of the most popular attractions is the Old Town Hall — say hello to the ‘dragon’ (actually a crocodile) suspended from the ceiling that, according to legend, once terrorized the city. It's also worth climbing the 174 steps of the tower for the impressive views. You won’t want to miss some of the city’s eerie underground attractions -including the mummies at the Capuchin Monastery and the Brno Ossuary, the second largest in Europe after Paris. Spend your second day exploring the rich architectural history of Brno, discover the surprising Modernist treasures which stand in stark contrast to the city’s historic Gothic and Baroque buildings. On day three, you could visit charming Mikulov and sample some local wine, stroll the magnificent grounds of Lednice-Valtice, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s largest landscaped gardens or hike to the ruins of Dívčí Hrady Castle. Spend your final day indulging in a Brno culinary tour, sampling plenty of local delights along the way.
