The tour leader was excellent but after 3 weeks without a break she was very tired towards the end. She was also not able to provide more historical knowledge as not qualified to do so. The accommodation was excellent but the home stay was very basic in all respects. Probably a little too basic but appreciate it helps a Turkish family. The walks were superb.
It was a full on experience.Starting off with breakfast each morning, then off on our journey into Germany, with a cruise in the Rhineland. From there into Switzerland with a meal including Swiss fondue.Exploring Lucerne, then off to magical Paris.our travel director was Excellent with a wealth of knowledge from the past and future.I would thoroughly recommend this short full of ancient history tour to everyone
A very well organised walking holiday which included the underground city and a museum. The itinerary was not in the same order as published but didn't miss anything out. The hotel was well placed for balloon viewing in the morning before we set out, with them often coming right over us. The walking was challenging and long enough for the majority age group with some slight scrambles and most days some steep slippery parts with sand and gravel on rock. Poles recommended. I wouldn't have wanted to do this trip in winter, late September was perfect. We always got time for a lunch break either in a town or a picnic at a drinks cafe. It takes 10-12 minutes to walk into town for dinner on the nights that were not group meals. There was a restaurant at the hotel but we didn't use it until the last night. Better value in town. The pick up and return to the airport was also very good, as was our guide and driver. The landscapes are amazing. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone used to a bit of walking.
This was our first trip to Europe and we wanted to see as much as possible. The itinerary was busy and a lot of ground was covered, but we knew that up front and would not of been able to see so much on our own. We did all the optional extras which added so much more depth to the trip. You could chose not to do the optional extras if you wanted some down time. We paid for the optional extras on about day 3 or 4. Our Tour Director Brent was so experienced, pleasant and fun. He tweaked the itinerary to make the most of our time in each destination. We skipped the line at so many sights which was excellent. Yes we had early starts and lots of walking but you make the most of each and every day. Majority of the days were breakfast and bags out by 6.30/7 and on the bus by 7.30/8. There were some long bus days. We made restroom stops every 2 - 3 hours. The seats were rotated daily. The 2 Night stays are better and I think the itinerary may be changing slightly for 2026 to include an extra 2 night stay. We got to see so much of Europe, every day was so fantastic and so special. We ticked off so many sights. Breakfast included every morning was good and all accommodation was of a good standard. Some rooms did not have tea/coffee facilities so take your own kettle and cup and tea/coffee if you cant wait until breakfast. TD, Brent would advise on places to eat and places to do laundry which we did twice on the trip. He was a wealth of knowledge of history and highlights of each region.
I had an amazing time hiking the Lycian Way with Explore and a wonderful group of new friends. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the route, nature, and history of the ruins and ensured we we well looked-after throughout. The highlight was the boat trip on day 7, where we enjoyed swimming in the calm sea and were treated to delicious food after a hot week of hiking. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. The village stay on day 3 was fairly basic, as described in the notes, but the homecooked food and hospitality was wonderful. Day 2 and 6 were long hikes and I'd say should probably be rated as 'difficult' but it is possible to arrange to skip days, so don't be dissuaded but do be prepared. Proper hiking boots and trekking poles are strongly recommended because there's a lot of descending on very rocky terrain. Also long, lightweight trousers might be preferable to shorts because there can be a lot of prickly shrubs. All in all, a fantastic way to experience a beautiful part of Turkey. I highly recommend this trip and can't wait to go back for more!
The tour was extremely well organised and a fascinating hike through Lycian history and the Anatolian landscape. The guide Kemal was excellent, giving us insights into Lycian history and the flora and fauna we were walking through. Kemal was painstakingly kind and helpful in caring for the welfare of the group. I am recommending this tour to all my friends!
