Mardi Himal Trek is a good alternative to escape away from crowded treks of Annapurna with stunning views and duration similar to Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. Mardi Himal Trek is a relatively new trekking route in Annapurna region with spectacular views of the Annapurna Himalayan range. It's a peaceful trekking route with very few trekkers along the way. Though the availability of foods and accommodation on the route is at the bare minimum, Mardi Himal Trekking is still an enjoyable trekking route which requires minimum effort. Mardi Himal Trek is about a week long trip in the Himalayas with stunning views of snowy peaks through small Nepali villages. It is an interesting trek compared to other popular treks in the Annapurna region. The trek in Mardi Himal consist of short ascend or descend every day. The Tea houses on Mardi Himal Trek are basic and offer only essential items to trekkers.

Beautiful trek for beginners
“I and my friend did a trek to Mardi Himal in December with Upendra which was organized by Himalayan Leisure, Inc. We booked a service trek with a private guide. The guide was very helpful and knowledgable and the price was very reasonable. We only took the guide and paid for the expenses ourselves, this went fine from starting to the end.”

Great Trek
“Not the most physically demanding trek and great for those who enjoy forest trails. Went with older folks and everyone had the time of their lives.”

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

  • Is quarantine in Nepal in effect for arriving visitors?

In response to the current Covid situation, rules for arriving visitors may change frequently and sometimes without notice. Please check the government travel pages and advisories of your home country and the official website of the Nepal Tourism board here.

  • What happens if someone gets altitude sickness, does the rest of the group continue on?

It depends on the situation. Sometimes, altitude sickness can be treated and the trekker may wish to continue. If not, the rest of the group can continue on if they want and the sick person can descend.

  • How does it work with a porter?

Generally, the porter will pick up the baggage in the morning and drop it at the hotel in the evening. You will not always be walking with your porter or have access to your bag during the day, while trekking.

  • Is a visa on arrival available?

Typically, yes. However, in response to the current Covid situation, rules for arriving visitors may change frequently and sometimes without notice. It may be necessary to obtain a tourist visa in your own country before travel. For updated information on visas, please check the Nepal Tourism Board and the Government of Nepal Immigration websites.
