A tour to East Africa is to experience nature at its most spectacular. Here you can witness the famous wildebeest migration at the Serengeti National Park, encounter the mountain gorillas of Uganda and Rwanda, gape at the majesty of the mighty Victoria Falls, and summit the continent’s highest peak – the formidable Kilimanjaro.

On the top of Kilimanjaro Reviewed Tour: Mt. Kilimanjaro - Lemosho route, 8 days
5 - Excellent
  • Mansur Aglyamov
  • From Australia
“I climbed on the "Roof of Africa" with Altezza Travel. I spent a month looking for the best company and found Altezza Travel to satisfy all my criteria. I'm so glad that I've chosen them. They are really the number one company in Tanzania. They provided excellent service, starting from initial communication, support in preparation for the trip and summit itself. All our team, five members including a 61-year-old man, successfully made it to the top! After Kilimanjaro I also traveled to a couple of Tanzanian national parks with Altezza. Everything was great. Highly recommended!”
Kilimanjaro and Safari with Altezza Reviewed Tour: Mt. Kilimanjaro - Lemosho route, 9 days

“Altezza was a great price and the porters and guides were AMAZING. The accommodations both on and off the mountain were better than I expected and the lodges and Altezza hotel were especially nice. All of the food was great and my gluten allergy was easily addressed ahead of time. The convenience of how Altezza office staff set up everything for us in advance made everything hassle-free. Both my friend and I summited Kilimanjaro and we would not have been able to do so without the support of both of our guides and porters. The safaris were beautiful and we saw Tanzania's Big Five EASILY. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to climb Kilimanjaro, do adventure or sightseeing hikes, or who just might want only a safari. I am already planning on utilizing Altezza Travel next June for when I hopefully return to Kilimanjaro with more friends and to also ascend Mount Meru. I highly recommend our guide, Baraka Ayo!! He was VERY professional, met our needs, any concerns we might have had, were immediately addressed, not that I had any anyway, and he coordinated every day of our six-night trek perfectly! Thank you.”
Amazing experience with Altezza team Reviewed Tour: Mt. Kilimanjaro - Lemosho route, 8 days

“Just returned home from Tanzania. Choosing Altezza Travel for organising my climb was a great decision. Everything was perfect! Managers were reachable literally 24/7, the equipment I rent from Altezza shop was clean and in a good condition, the hotel before and after the climb was located in a really nice area where monkeys are literally jumping from tree to tree right next to you while you are having lunch. The route I climb via was Lemosho 8 days. I decided to do it on my own just because I felt like I needed some piece and quiet from my daily life and working routine. When I was told that the supporting group consists of 9 people I wasnt really happy about it and didnt understand why on earth we needed that amount of people. But when I started my climb I realised how wrong I was. First of all, it was basically just me and a guide. I almost did not see porters while trekking from one camp to another. They were going far ahead from me, and once I reached the camp, everything was already set up like tents, dinning tables, food Oh God, the food was amazing! They even cooked pizza once. Honestly, I was really surprised by the variety of food they offered up in the mountains. Sometimes it was pretty cold in the evenings, but a sleeping bag I rented was warm, plus I was given a heating pad, which really helped me to survive the nights! The most difficult part was the summiting night. I didnt sleep well and on my half way to the top I was so cold and tired that I asked my guide if we could return back to the camp. But big thanks to him and his motivational and cheerful speeches, which made me continue my climb and reach the highest point of Africa. It is important to highlight the fact, that your health is being checked twice per day. The guide even had some special medical card where he wrote down all information about my physical condition etc. And do not bother yourself taking such tablets as Diamox and Aquaguard, because they have everything in their aid medical kit.The guide deserves a special mention. What an amazing and interesting man! My plan of being all alone for 7 days vanished into thin air as soon as I started a conversation with my guide. I will never forget these long walks we spent together, sharing lots of life stories. I learned so much about what it is like to be a Tanzanian citizens and to climb Kilimanjaro few times per month. Tanzanian people are something unique. They are so kind and apprehensive. My guide could actually feel when I wasnt in the mood for communicating (even my wife still cannot do that) and just followed me in a complete silence when it was needed. My biggest regret was not combining my climb with a safari tour, because at the end of my trip I didnt want to leave Tanzania at all. There are so many interesting places to see and things to learn about the culture, that one week is extremely little time to do that. So if you are planning to spend your next vacation in Tanzania, make sure you take at least 2 weeks off and book both Kilimanjaro climb and safari. I can assure that with Altezza Team organising your holiday you will get the most of your trip to Africa!”

East Africa — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Think of safari, and it’s East Africa’s landscapes that come to mind — one of the last places to catch the Big Five. Look beyond the plains in a trip to East Africa and you’ll also discover the Great Rift Valley’s many other wonders such as Lake Victoria, Kenya’s pristine beaches, and the Zanzibar islands among them.

Tour Highlights

  • Jump into a 4x4 for that timeless safari experience in Tsavo East, Amboseli, or Ngorongoro - just three of a whole host of protected spaces from which to take home unforgettable memories of elephants, rhinos, and lions in their natural environment
  • Pull on your hiking boots and scale the heady heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain at 5,895 meters.
  • Experience the grandeur of Victoria Falls – ‘the Smoke that Thunders’ – up close, from the comfort of a viewing platform, or by rafting the bubbling white water of Zambezi Gorge
  • Hit the idyllic beaches of Kenya or Zanzibar and soak up the rays on pristine sands, splash about in the warm shallows, or delve beneath the waves for a spot of world-class scuba diving
  • Delve into the forests of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for that once in a lifetime encounter with gorillas in the mist, coming eye to eye with our closest living relatives as their family groups relax in the shade of the lush vegetation
  • Witness one of the world’s largest animal migrations, as more than two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle cross the plains of the Masai Mara and Serengeti in search of fresh grass.

Travel Tips

  • The best time to visit East Africa is generally considered to be from July to November, during the region’s long dry season. Temperatures are mild, and July sees the start of the wildebeest migration, although this time is also peak period, with accommodation booking up quickly.
  • East Africa is incredibly safe as a destination, with tour companies and locals alike going out of their way to make visitors feel welcome. Follow standard practices, such as not leaving valuables unattended, and you won’t have any problems.
  • Do like the locals, and wear light weave and light color natural fabrics such as cotton, rather than tight-fitting man-made materials, to stay cool in the sun. Make sure you’ve also packed a sun hat.
  • Don’t worry if you don’t run to schedule. Time is a little more fluid in East Africa than in the west, however, this doesn’t mean you’ll have to miss out on any activities or experiences, with additional time built in for just this eventuality!
