the two tour leader Wilfred and Tarik were superb. They moulded into the group with their friendly manner but remained very professional and knowledgeable throughout. Did they train in the Happy Store?

A wonderful exploration of a part of the US that has a ton to offer

The trip itinerary was well thought out. A great journey through some very diverse and fascinating towns and cities, with good food, warm people, amazing music, history, civil rights and varied experiences along the way. I honestly wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did and I don't think I've ever learned so much on a holiday before. The Mississippi Delta is fascinating.

Mexico exceeded all my expectations. The diversity of the people and culture held a surprise every day. The local people are so pleased to be welcoming tourists to the areas we visited. There was a strong police presence particularly on highway 99 in the Chiapas area but not threatening and indeed, in other areas, made us feel safe. The tour was very busy with early departures in order to be able to cover the itinerary. Nothing was too much trouble for our guide - Tacho, he was proud to tell us of his Mayan ancestry and history of Mexico. I would have liked to spend a night on the Chocolate farm in the highlands and Maybe, just one night in San Cristobel but other than that can’t see how you could cover the trip length without that long drive to Tuxtla (nearly 11 hours for us due to road blocks and minor bus problem).

Well organised and a good standard of hotels. Varied itinerary at an easy pace allowing free time to use the hotel swimming pools and other facilities. A colourful and interesting country, beautiful scenery and very safe and friendly people. Our guide Dionisio was excellent. Friendly, informative and very helpful, ensuring everyone had a wonderful time, making the most of our travels in El Salvador.

Our tour leader, Dionisio, was fantastic--super friendly, knowledgeable, immediately took care of any issues that came up. It was a small group of 6 so we were very comfortably transported in a van with 2 extra seats which was nice. The hotels varied from fairly basic to actual resorts. I was pleased that several had large swimming pools so I could do laps. The itinerary was excellent and we got to see the highlights of El Salvador including climbing a volcano, learning how to make pupusas, and spending an hour talking with a former civil war rebel! As to the sea turtle research, it was very interesting to watch but we tourists didn't do anything--our "help" was simply that our financial input enabled them to do more research. There were a few optional activities offered (small additional cost); I really enjoyed the indigo dyeing (essentially tie dyeing).
