Everest Base Camp - 3 Passes Trek

The Everest Base Camp - 3 Passes Trek is the ultimate trek in the Everest region. The trek  takes you across three high mountain passes of Kongma La (5,540 m), Cho La (5,335 m) and Renjo La (5,400 m). The EBC - 3 Passes trek offers a fortnight of sheer mountain bliss only reserved for the truly adventurous.

The trek follows the lower Khumbu trail towards Everest Base Camp crossing over the three passes making this a comprehensive circuit of the Everest region. Though strenuous trekking at times, you are rewarded with remarkable Himalayan scenery including four of the world's eight highest peaks; Cho Oyu (8,201m), Makalu (8,463m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Everest (8,850m). You also get to see the beautiful village of Gokyo and its emerald lakes.

This is all complemented by inviting Sherpa villages, homes and monasteries offering an insight into the quiet and culturally vibrant Sherpa way of life. You have the opportunity to visit ‘off the tourist trail’ tracks if you choose, and you can experience more remote villages and mountainous areas.

Our quide Keshar Mani Raj was and still is very professional, took very good care from customers, excellent company and flexible in situation that changes. We had also porter named Dambar his a great guy.

“I though I would be the only one finishing this trip, what with some bad food and respiratory issues, only 2 out of seven of us finished this trip. Apart from the points I have mentioned earlier I would like to stress that this trip is marked "TOUGH" that means you have to put some training in or you will struggle to complete this trip, your weekend country walks are not going to cut it.”

“The High Passes of Everest trek was the first trip of this kind that I have done and was my 50th birthday treat to myself. Although I had never experienced altitude before, and had limited walking experience, I felt that I was fit enough and determined enough to take on the challenge of what is described as a 'tough' trek. Our guides stressed the need for a steady pace in order for us to acclimatise properly and be able to cope with many hard days spent at over 5000m. I never felt any of the symptoms of altitude sickness due mainly, I believe, to proper hydration. Along with the other 14 in the group (average age 51.9), I made base camp. Only 6 of us (ave. age 56.8) managed all 5 peaks and 3 passes, so I am justly proud of accomplishing that! The main reason that so few of the group managed all peaks and passes was down to illness, although 2 in the group weren't really fit enough and seemed to want to use the trek as a weight-loss exercise! I also went to Chitwan for 2 nights at the end of the trek. This was a thoroughly relaxing way to end my holiday.”

“This trip takes in a classic circuit of the Nepalese Himalayas - guaranteed to give you a grand stand view of evey mountain, river, glacier and local cultural location of interest you could possibly be looking for, and even some you weren't! Local information is generously dispensed by Exodus' expert guides who share a love of the area and welcoming strangers, and you can lap it all up at walking pace.”

“Don't expect any comforts. Ignore headaches. And you will be rewarded with one of the best treks in the world!!! After a few days you might be tired of the Ama Dablam (I'm never tired of these!) or Mt Everest views - just in time to cross the Khumbu glacier that is going to keep you awake! This trek is not just about mountains - valleys are amazing as well, so don't think that the Renjo pass is the last point - the Bhote Koshi valley is just superb and this is where I took a LOT of photos (I put a few on my profile)!”
