About Akriti
For Akriti, writing found her long before her love for travel did; she blames her acute motion sickness for the delayed onset of the latter. But when the two interests did meet, it resulted in many memorable (and sometimes revolting) travel stories. As a traveler, she enjoys challenging treks as much as lazy walks on the beach. She hates road trips unless it is on the back of a truck or a motorbike. She loves good food; even more so when paired with a local drink.
Readers will find her writing to be much like her hometown of Kathmandu—rich, soulful and quirky.
How did you get into travel
I started writing about travels after I did a piece about a hotel stay for a magazine. Since then I have written about every place I have visited and every wild, crazy adventure I’ve had. Some have made it to magazines and others are on my personal blog.
But it was when I joined Bookmundi that I realized I didn’t have to have been to places to write about them. The traveler that I am, I research and read about destinations, and have learned to write about them to inspire others to book their next vacation. Of course I also plan my own travels while I do so.
Akriti's unique travel experience
There are many, but two definitely stand out.
First on the list remains taking an early morning dip in the Baltic Sea in Hundested. I did it alongside my elderly homestay owner and her friends, and capped it with a shot of their homemade liqueur. It was an authentic and local experience that one doesn’t come across often.
Second was my recent trek to Annapurna Base Camp, and not for the right reasons. I suffered from altitude sickness at the base camp, trekked back while it poured because the monsoon apparently didn’t want to end that year, and walked for 10 hours on the last day. The icing on the cake however was the drive back to Pokhara where our driver went full throttle on hairpin, mountain roads during foggy, zero-visibility conditions—it was adventure in the truest sense of the word. I seriously thought I’d never live to tell the tale, but here I am.

A seasoned traveler with many stamps in his passport, Nader recently set off on a solo adventure to Jordan. On the contrary, it can be every bit as rich, rewarding, and memorable.

For many people looking for adventure, one of their dreams is to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, which stands at 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) above sea level (the highest point in Africa) and is one of the easiest "high" elevation climbs for non-experienced climbers. “Accessible” does not mean easy; it actually presents its own set of difficulties in areas of endurance, altitude sickness, training, and mental toughness. Too many climbers make the mistake of underestimating Mt. Kilimanjaro by thinking that they can get away with having only basic fitness or making last-minute plans to climb it.
A climber’s chances of summiting or turning around early are based on the amount of time they invest in proper preparation—not just when they show up. A climber should train their body to acclimatize to the higher elevations of Mt. Kilimanjaro, buy the best gear possible to protect themselves from the drastic weather changes, and condition and prepare their minds to keep going from sunrise to sunset for 8 days of challenging hike. This guide breaks down preparing for a Kilimanjaro climb into three essential pillars: fitness, gear, and mindset.

What happens when you finally book a trip to a long-time bucket-list destination? You come back with memories, stories worth retelling, and sometimes a souvenir you never planned on buying. For Mircea, his journey through Costa Rica and Panama delivered all three, including a capybara souvenir.
Panama had been sitting on his travel wish list for years, so when he came across the right small-group tour on Bookmundi, the decision was easy. He booked Costa Rica & Panama Discovery for a December departure, with a promise of a well-paced itinerary, the promise of shared experiences and new adventures.

A family of four from New Zealand — mum, dad, a 20-year-old daughter, and an 18-year-old son — traded the familiar for something far more colourful: a 14-day small group trip through Sri Lanka and the Maldives by G Adventures. Booked in July and beginning on 30 November 2025, their journey opened in Negombo and wrapped up in sunlit Malé, following a route built on contrast, discovery, and shared moments.
The first half unfolded across Sri Lanka, where ancient cities whispered stories of the past, spice gardens perfumed the air, and wildlife safaris brought the island’s untamed side to life. Then came the shift in pace — the Maldives, where time moves slower and the horizon feels endless. Sailing across the atolls on a traditional dhoni boat, they swapped temples for turquoise lagoons and jungle greens for ocean blues.
