Reviews of our Bosnia Herzegovina Tours for August
Feedback from guests who toured Bosnia Herzegovina during August.
This was an absolutely perfect trip for me (55) and my daughter (24). The walking was a good mix of moderate to a bit more arduous. The chance to visit Trebinje, Sarajevo, Mostar, Dubrovnik was nicely interspersed with the walks in quiet and fantastic scenery.... Alpine meadows with butterflies everywhere at 2000m! Weather was great in July, though thunderstorms were an ever-present threat to the itinerary. Well-planned by competent and fun guides. Exceptional driver. Accommodation good. People lovely. Food and drink affordable. Cannot find anything to moan about!
The trip started badly because I was travelling with a bicycle and had informed the local travel specialist 5 months ago before I booked. They said no problem but 2 days before the tour told me that they couldn't transport my bicycle and to make my own arrangements. So get confirmation in writing for any additional requests. My family was the only ones on the tour. We had an excellent driver who although wasn't a licensed guide was very knowledgeable. He was also always thinking of ways to allow us to have a better holiday. Last but not least he had a great and sunny personality which made interaction with him a real pleasure.
My 16 year old daughter and myself enjoyed this tour recently, the scenery is absolutely stunning and efforts pedalling on the bikes were well and truly rewarded. The guide was delightful, energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and capable, she was assisted by an equally positive and inspiring driver / mechanic. The tour itinerary details the difficulty of the cycling, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as adequate bike handling skills to manage the poor road surfaces that crop up now and again. Having previously completed tours with other companies where the entire day would be spent in the saddle, this tour was refreshing with lots of other activities including visiting a honey making farm, several wineries, caves and an olive oil producer. Many thanks.
It was our 9th cycling trip by this tour operator for me and my wife and we have chosen Bosnia and Montenegro because it was Moderate/Challenging (and that didn't disappoint). We had lovely Sabina guiding us (she rode with us all the way including supporting us on the tough climbs) as well as Sasa (an ex-downhill MTB racer) fixing our bikes/nice picnic lunches and following us in the van to make sure we are okay. We went through beautiful country as well as lots of interesting visits (the wine was surprisingly good!). We stayed at nice hotels (beach resort, ski lodges and hotels in middle of the old towns) and had great tasting and very reasonably priced food. Did I say cycling is great too?
A thoroughly rewarding and fascinating insight into the rich history and geography of BH. As a trekker of limited experience but average fitness I found the walks challenging but well within my limits to complete thanks to the expert guidance given. The routes planned by our excellent guide Samer showed us the vast range of climates, ecology and history of the region-within one day we went from a Mediterranean climate to a alpine and back again! Every day was packed full and every aspect well organised. A fantastic mix of rural walking, a couple of interesting city tours and even a day of rafting. I highly recommend this trip!
Overall an excellent trip with a good combination of walking and cultural sights. The scenery is magnificent and unspoilt. The rafting was great fun down the Neretva river through gorges and over rapids. Sarajevo is a most interesting city and the people in Bosnia Herzegovina were very friendly.
