The 8-day Bike and Barge trip from Amsterdam to Bruges has been the highlight of our 9 and a half week European trip. So good to have a great ride every day and go back on the boat each afternoon to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or two and to be served a fabulous 3-course, superior restaurant-quality meal each night, and have a cabin with a very comfortable ensuite and bed. Navigating each ride is an enjoyable challenge and that boat is always a great sight. I could not recommend this trip any more highly. You've got to do it. You'll love it. We made some great friends. Such a happy group of people. The scenery was spectacular. The assisting staff were excellent. Just do it.
Our cycling tour of the Western Front through France and Belgium was great. The scenery of the countryside that we cycled through was beautiful, the towns we stayed in were enjoyable, and the World War One sites were educational (but sombre). We stayed in the upgraded hotels and enjoyed all of them - no complaints. We selected the self-guided tour and the GPS routes were easy to follow and we never had an issue with navigation. We chose the self-guided tour, which worked out well as we had spectacular weather. However, if the weather had been cold and rainy, the self-guided tour would be less enjoyable as you're on your own - no option to skip the cycling and get transported to the next town. Something to consider for future cycling trips.
The trip was absolutely amazing. We had a great time cycling and met some wonderful people. The boat was perfect for the group. The food was excellent along with the service. Absolutely would recommend to active folks who are looking for an adventure.
Fun group to ride and travel with. Great staff and great food. Weather could have been warmer but who can control that. And headwinds were tough. Maybe do Bruges to Amsterdam for more tailwind??
Trip was great. Hotels booked were perfect and breakfasts were excellent. Loved the route this trip took us. The only suggestion I have is that at the beginning of the trip there should be some type of representative on hand to make sure bikes are in working order.
We took the Amsterdam to Bruges Boat & Bike Tour in April 2026. It was the final week of our six-week European adventure. It was by far the best activity we did in the six-week, six-country trip. We loved the pace of travel, biking during the day and a bit of sailing here and there. A good mix of seeing the countryside, the forests and big towns and even some cities. Our tour guides were excellent, taking us on evening strolls to learn more about the history of a town. The app allowed us to be independent; we were never lost while biking on our own. I do recommend the e-bikes - you're on holiday after all, not training for a triathlon. We will definitely book another bike and boat tour in the future.
