Itinerary

Venture into Mongolia’s untouched wilderness on the Mongolian Tavan Bogd Trek, an 11-day adventure tailor-made for experienced and senior travelers with a taste for challenge. This trekking tour journeys from Ulaanbaatar into the remote Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, home to Mongolia’s tallest peaks—the revered “Five Holy” mountains. Traverse glacier fields, cross fast-flowing rivers, and camp in lush alpine pastures where nomads herd yaks and sheep. Along the way, uncover ancient burial sites and intricate rock art, gaining insight into a culture that has thrived in isolation for centuries. The trip’s unique selling point is the rare opportunity to trek through Mongolia’s remotest region, experiencing pristine nature, authentic nomadic traditions, and a true sense of adventure far from the crowds.

day 1 - Join Ulaanbaatar, free day

On arrival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, you will be met by our representative and transferred to a centrally located 4-star hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax and recover from your international flight. This evening is at leisure.

day 2 - Guided tour of Ulaanbaatar, welcome dinner

After breakfast we set out on a full day guided tour of Ulaanbaatar. We begin at the Gandan Monastery, the city’s principal Buddhist centre, before heading to the Zaisan Memorial, an elevated hilltop offering panoramic views across the capital. In Sükhbaatar Square, the central plaza, we admire the marble colonnade with imposing statues of Genghis (Chinggis) Khaan and his successors. We then explore the National Museum, which traces Mongolia’s history from prehistory through to the modern era. In the evening we enjoy a traditional folk performance, featuring throat singing, music, and contortion, followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
