Begin your day in Beijing by visiting Tiananmen Square and learn about its historical and cultural significance, then it is off the the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace where you can marvel at the intricate architecture, courtyards and imperial gardens that have stood for over 600 years. As a political and ceremonial center for Chinese Emperors its vast scale is now renowned as one of the largest and best preserved ancient wooden structures in the world.
After lunch the afternoon offers us a visit to the Summer Palace.
It stands as a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design, combining natural beauty with intricate architecture. It remains one of the most visited attractions in China, offering visitors a glimpse into the imperial past and the artistry of traditional Chinese gardens. The complex features a harmonious blend of natural landscapes, including hills and lakes, with architectural elements such as pavilions, temples, and bridges.

After breakfast at your hotel, there is a visit to the Great Wall of China.
The iconic symbol of Chinese history and ingenuity, features architectural elements such as watchtowers, beacon towers, and garrison stations, each telling stories of the past. Visitors can walk along well-preserved sections, such as Badaling and Mutianyu, and can experience the grandeur and historical significance of this monumental achievement while enjoying the stunning vistas.
On returning to to Beijing it is quick stop and the Hotel before we depart for Xi'an a short 2 hour flight away.

day 4 - Xi'an City Tour (b,l)
We start the day after breakfast at the Hotel by visiting the Terracotta Army Museum. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in history with the vast underground site housing several large pits featuring thousands of life-sized clay soldiers, chariots and horsed in military formation. Visitors can explore the museum's expansive exhibits, which include not only the terracotta soldiers but also artifacts such as weapons and pottery that provide insight into ancient Chinese military culture.
Continue your cultural journey by visiting a local craftsman's cave-dwelling where you can learn how to make a mini terracotta warrior with hands on guidance from the craftsman. Here you will gain insight into the techniques and craftsman ship behind the life-sized clay soldiers.
Next, explore the Muslim Quarter of Xi'an.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and rich culinary culture located in the heart of the city which is renowned for its rich history. Enjoy a food adventure with your private guide, tasting popular Xi'an dishes like roujiamo, biangbiang noodles, and pita bread soaked in lamb soup.

day 5 - Xi'an To Chongqing, Embark Yangtze River Cruise (b,l,d)
After breakfast at your hotel, you will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. A prominent Buddhist structure in the Da Ci'en Temple complex it was constructed to house sacred texts and relics that played a crucial role in the development of Chinese Buddhism. Standing over 7 Stories it symbolizes the cultural exchange along the Silk Road.
Next, you will travel to Chongqing for the Yangtze River Cruise.
After a transfer to the train station you will board a bullet train and enjoy the scenic ride to Chongqing where you will be met and transferred to the cruise port, once you are aboard the Yangzi Explorer you can settle into your cabin and get ready for an evening including the Captains Welcome Reception and a full buffet dinner.

Start your morning with a traditional Tai Chi Lesson and then enjoy a leisurely buffet breakfast before we head off for a morning excursion to the Fuling 816 Nuclear Engineering Site known as the worlds largest man-made military cave and a wonder of modern engineering. There is also an opportunity to explore the 816 Town, a place caught up in the 1970's and 1980's where the workers of this project resided.
The evening will offer the enjoyment of VIP Seats at The Beacon of Three Kingdoms, a large-scale live performance featuring cultural themes, horseback battles, and special effects.

day 7 - Wushan (b,l,d)
Today we spend the morning sailing across the Qutang Gorge, the first of the Three Gorges, admiring the green peaks and tranquil river.
After breakfast we head off for a Full Day Tour of Wushan.
Our morning drive heads to Dachang Ancient Town containing over 1,800 years of history where we can explore its preserved ancient buildings, followed by a two hour scenic boat ride down the Daning River where we pass through the Emerald Gorge and the Wushan Lesser Three Gorges.
The afternoon continues along the Yangzi Explorer Trail where we traverse the Wushan Goddess Sky Road and enjoy a private lookout where stunning views of the 12 peaks of Wushan can be seen. While taking in this stunning landscape enjoy a Champagne Reception.
It is then a return to the cruise to enjoy dinner on board.

day 8 - Yichang - Disembark Cruise (b,l)
This morning you can continue your Tai Chi Practice before a leisurely breakfast taking in the passing scenery as we arrive at the Three Gorges Dam. Onboard there will be lecture where you will come to understand that The Three Gorges Dam stands as a testament to China's engineering capabilities and its commitment to large-scale infrastructure projects, while also highlighting the complex challenges associated with such massive undertakings.
The final meal of the cruise will be lunch at the world-famous Fang Weng Restaurant in Xiling Gorge, built in a cave with sweeping views of the Yangtze River it offers diners distinctive regional cuisine.
This afternoon sees a transfer to Yichang Airport for the flight to Beijing.
