Walking Through the Auvergne & Languedoc
Hike along ancient sections of the GR65 pilgrim’s route
Classic Landscapes of Rural France
Historic Le Puy and Conques
Step into the heart of rural France on the Le Puy Camino: Walk to Conques, a 12-day self-guided walking tour designed for experienced and senior explorers. Follow the ancient GR65 pilgrims’ route through the Auvergne and Languedoc, traversing the bucolic Massif Central, the flower-strewn Aubrac plateau, and the green valleys of Aveyron. Enjoy rustic charm in simple countryside hotels and soak up the region’s history, from Romanesque churches to echoes of the Hundred Years’ War. The tour’s highlight is the deep sense of achievement and tranquility that comes with walking a storied pilgrimage trail, offering a genuine taste of France’s less-traveled landscapes.
Excellent communication, always kept in the loop while arrangements were being made. The accommodation was generally outstanding, very good value, especially considering that there is often not a great deal of choice. The route notes all very up to date, extremely detailed with lots of useful tips. However I didn't have to consult the map often as the trail was amazingly well marked. With all the logistics (accommodation, baggage transfers, meals) taken care of, it was easy to relax and enjoy the spectacular countryside. So much of interest to see en route!
It was a wonderful walk with magnificent scenery and fantastic Medieval Villages many listed by UNESCO. We had no problems with local organisation, everything went like clockwork. We would definitely recommend the walk to anyone considering a sojourn in rural France.Thank you for organizing such a wonderful experience for us.
