day 1Join trip Warsaw
Arrive in Warsaw. Poland's capital is a wonderfully dynamic and modern city, but reminders of its turbulent history are easy to uncover. After World War ll around 85% of its buildings were left in ruins; however, the city has been impressively rebuilt and restored to its former glory with the Old Town 'Stare Miasto' as its centrepiece. Buskers, street artists, and open-air cafes give the area a unique energy and atmosphere, making a visit that little bit more special. For those arriving on time, our tour leader plans to meet you in the hotel reception at 7pm for a welcome meeting and for those that wish, there is the chance to go out for dinner. There are no other activities planned today, so you're free to arrive in Warsaw at any time. If you'd like an airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), which is a 30-minute drive from the hotel. Should you miss the welcome meeting, your tour leader will inform you of any essential information as soon as you catch up. If you are arriving into Modlin Mazovia Airport (WMI) then please speak to our Sales team, as we can arrange a private transfer for you at an additional cost. The drive from this airport to our hotel takes around an hour. If your flight arrives earlier in the day, you might like to visit Lazienki Park including the botanical gardens, which are about 15 minutes' walk from our hotel. Or take some heights (230 meters to be precise) and discover Warsaw from the Varso Tower's Observation Deck.

This trip was a great one-week introduction to Poland.
All good, but not enough time in each city, so much to see.
Beautiful country. Lovely people. Excellent food and accommodation. Use of public transport superb. Everything you would expect in an Explore Guide, supported by superb local guides.
Gabi was an awesome tour leader! She made navigating the trans, trams, and the cities easy. Also, the (almost) nightly group dinners were great so we could learn more about our group, our leader, and the country. I wish there was more time in certain cities and more time to wonder and explore some of the shops. This tour was a great introduction to Poland!
The trip was "full on" with lots to see. A group of 12 from several Countries and we mixed well. Overall it was well arranged by Explore. However, while the Tour Manager was a nice guy and had immense knowledge, his organisation was at times patchy and other times chaotic. Most of us had been on several Explore trips before so had certain expectations. He didn't always keep to the Itinery, and infact I didn't see him again after the Jewish meal on the Thursday evening, so never got to give him a Tip. He was available to contact through the WhatsApp group. We had a trainee TM with us, shadowing, and I would say she worked hard to help us over the week. Would I book another Explore holiday? Yes, definitely, because I don't think on this occasion it was typical of Explore, based on other experiences.
