Itinerary
Uncover the serene beauty and enigmatic history of Laos on this 10-day private tour, ideal for both young adults and seniors seeking an off-the-beaten-path escape. From the UNESCO-listed old capital of Luang Prabang, adorned with gilded Buddhist temples, to the mysterious Plain of Jars in Xiengkhouang, each day offers a blend of cultural immersion and natural splendor.
Venture to the breathtaking Kuang Si Falls, where turquoise waters cascade through lush jungle, and journey south to the tranquil Bolaven Plateau, famous for its cool climate, dramatic waterfalls, and some of the world’s finest coffee plantations. The tour winds its way to the ancient Vat Phou temple complex—predating Cambodia’s Angkor Wat—and the laid-back Si Phan Don (Four Thousand Islands), where a boat tour reveals the peaceful rhythm of life along the Lower Mekong.
What truly sets this trip apart is its balance of cultural discovery and scenic wonders, all with the flexibility and comfort of a private tour package. With accommodation, meals, and transport included, you’ll experience Laos’s hidden charm at a relaxed pace, making it the perfect getaway for travelers who crave authenticity and tranquility.
day 1 - Arrival at Luang Prabang
Upon arrival at the airport, our driver will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. Its tranquility and charm with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos.
After a short rest, we will visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrines of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa, and watch a beautiful sunset above the city and the Mekong River.
From there, we go to explore the night market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the local hill-tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.
Overnight in Luang Prabang
day 2 - Luang Prabang — Pak Ou Caves
After breakfast, enjoy a short tour to the city’s oldest temple Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong. We then board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River. Enjoy a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside along the way to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. These two caves are linked and crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims.
En route, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where the local specialty — rice wine — is produced. Once back to Luang Prabang, we take a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village well known for its traditional hand weaving.
Overnight in Luang Prabang
day 3 - Luang Prabang — Khouangsi Waterfall
Get up early to get the opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the tradition.
From there, we will visit the morning Phosi Market where you can see a big diversity of local products, such as dried buffalo skin, local tea, vegetables, and woven products made by hill-tribe people.
Laos is also known for its traditional handicrafts, and today you will travel and visit local villages of Laos ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay and Ban Thapene. Then we will drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall, where you can swim in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest paths.
Overnight in Luang Prabang
day 4 - Luang Prabang — Xiengkhouang
After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and start our trip to Xiengkhouang. On the way, we will visit the National Museum (closed on Tuesdays) at the former Royal Palace, which displays a lovely collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Laos culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. You will also visit the Central Market.
Then we will drive 306km uphill the mountain surrounded by wonderful natural sceneries to Xiengkhouang, which was devastated by the American bombing between 1964 and 1973.
Upon arrival, we will visit the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are scattered all over the plateau. If time permits, we see the old capital of Muang Khoun and the nearby villages, home to the Hmong hill tribe people.
Overnight in Xiengkhouang
day 5 - Xiengkhouang – Vientiane
Relish the remaining moment in Xiengkhouang before your private driver escorts you to the airport from where you will be flying to Vientiane. At Vientiane airport, your driver will pick you up and transfer you to your respective accommodation. You will have the rest of the day to yourself.
day 6 - Vientiane City Tour
Today you will see the major sights of the capital, including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo. Then continue to Laos' national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa.
On the way, have a stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxai war monument, which is well-known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.
In the afternoon, continue the sightseeing tour to Buddha Park, where you will see a scattered enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the Mekong riverside meadow, close to the Friendship Bridge. It has approximately 200 religious images dating back over 500 years. Finish your day with a spectacular view over the Mekong River.
Overnight in Vientiane
day 7 - Flight from Vientiane to Pakse – Don Khon Island
After breakfast, we catch an early flight to Pakse. On arrival, our driver and guide will meet you and take you for a drive on the National Road No 13th south to Champassak to visit the fascinating pre-Angkorian ruins of Vat Phou.
Take your time to explore these intriguing Khmer ruins. This wonderful archeological site of Khmer civilization dates back to the 10th century, predating the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
We then continue our journey by long tail boat to Don Khon, the largest island in the South Mekong River region, also known as the Four Thousand Islands. It is one of the most scenic areas in Laos.
Overnight on Don Khon Island
day 8 - Don Khon Island – Four Thousand Islands
After an early breakfast, we explore the local villages of Ban Khone, where you will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with its locomotive.
We then continue exploring the Four Thousand Islands by boat. Visit the Liphi Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls that marks the border between Laos and Cambodia.
If we are lucky, we may even see the rare freshwater dolphins at Ban Hang Khone. After, return to Ban Nakasang and drive to the famous Khone Phapheng Falls, the largest waterfall in South East Asia.
Overnight on Don Khon Island
day 9 - Don Khon Island — Tadlo — Pakse
Today, we leave Don Khon Island and continue our journey towards Tad Lo, through the Bolaven Plateau. The Bolaven Plateau is known for its cooler temperature and being high above the Mekong Valley. Rivers run off this high plateau in all directions before plunging into lush forests along and series of spectacular surging waterfalls.
A trip to the plateau provides a refreshing break from the heat and allows you to observe the cultivation of rich coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other agricultural products.
During this trip, you will have a chance to venture off the beaten track and discover some of the lesser-known areas of Laos, and explore the wild beauty of this southern region. We also also visit Tad Lo waterfalls and the surrounding villages of Alak, Nge, and Katu. We return to Pakse by late evening.
Overnight in Pakse

A peaceful family trip through Laos
This was a well-organized tour. Our family is really happy with all the service. Laos is such a peaceful and interesting country. Thank you, team!
Educational, fun, and full of heart.
Beautiful and well-planned holiday with activities that both parents and children enjoyed. The tour guide was excellent with the children; he went above and above to give us detailed information about his home country, his family, what it's like to grow up there. We felt so welcomed there.
So many meaningful moments in just 10 days
Laos is such a special destination. It has a unique, peaceful, and natural vibe that I enjoy. I think these 10 day showed us the best of this country, we had a chance to join plenty of activities during the trip. And our tour advisor, Brian, has taken great care of us. He was very supportive and always there for us, with the best recommendations for restaurants and things to do while we here. Thanks to him and the team, we have a truly memorable journey.
Excellent tour guide
This tour was amazing thanks to our tour guides. They all took care to make sure we had fun and did not miss anything. How informative and knowledgeable they were! And I could see their pride of the country when they introduced it to us. We had good communication all the time for pickups and flights. They went above and beyond to see to the needs of the customers. We went on this tour for our anniversary and one of the tour guides - Lucy helped us to arrange the romantic dinner! Very pleased with her service. Thank you so much! I strongly recommend this tour as both the tour guides and agency are reliable and responsible. Would love to go on my next trip to Laos and Southeast Asia with them!
So far so good
Completely awesome!!! We got to interact with the locals and became fully immersed in Laos culture. The residents of the village, especially in Ban Khone, are incredibly kind and hospitable as they consistently show their great courtesy and respect for visitors from other countries. The local guides assisted and supported us along the journey, and gave us some uncommon facts about Khone Phapheng Falls.
