Kerala’s lush backroads and rich traditions come alive on the “Cycling Kerala’s Backroads” tour, a 14-day guided bicycle journey that showcases the best of South India. Starting and ending in Chennai, this trip is ideal for those who want a taste of India’s biodiversity, cuisine, and warm hospitality—all experienced from the saddle.
The adventure begins near Kochi, leading you into the bird-filled riverside glamps of Thattekkad Sanctuary. Ascend to the cool, emerald hills of Munnar for scenic rides through tea estates, and enjoy a jeep excursion to the world’s highest tea plantation at Kolukkumalai. From the spice-scented Cardamom Hills, cycle into Periyar National Park, where a free day might reward you with elephant or tiger sightings.
Descend to the tranquil backwaters of Lake Vembanad, where a night cruise on a converted rice barge offers an unmissable Keralite experience amid blue lagoons and coconut groves. The final days bring you to the palm-fringed beaches of Mararikulam and the historic port city of Fort Kochi, where cosmopolitan charm and centuries-old history await.
What sets this tour package apart is its immersive journey through Kerala’s varied ecosystems, enriched by authentic local interactions and unique overnights. For travelers seeking an active yet culturally rich exploration, this trip delivers South India’s spirit in every pedal stroke.
Cycling Kerala's Backroads was an amazing experience all around. Challenging cycling, delicious food, great guides, and countless interactions with locals. The warmth and fun of the people was the best. Solid mix of doable distances, with cultural experiences. Cooking at the Barbeque in Mannar was a wonderful experience. Shibu and Hareesh were excellent guides for our ride. This was our third tour with this company. All have been outstanding experiences. Safety, comfort, and communication have all been well managed. These two had great senses humor and were impressed with our ability to move across the terrain as efficiently as we did. We all had a renewing ride in Kerala. Charmed by the many people we met. Led by two great guides. Thanks to Shibu and Hareesh.
