Great driver with good local knowledge. One hotelier was very rude to me in relation to my dietary choices but no action has been taken in relation to this. Great transport. Great to be able to climb to the tip. Felt a bit abandoned at the end when we were put on a boat and plane to return to Cairns without knowing what to do. We finally flew to Cairns after dark and no vision of the reef as alluded to in prior advertising.
Well worth the trip. Great driver/guide. He had very good knowledge of the nature and history of the area. A very good purpose built vehicle. Accommodation a little questionable, but there was a very late change due to one premise closing. Not a single soft close toilet and only 2 ply loo paper. Very 1960’s. No one north of Cooktown knows what a vegetarian meal consists of…. Very 1950’s Wild West attitudes, and one manager was very arrogant and would not let his cook prepare food we had given to the cook. “Vegetarians eat vegetables and you will eat our vegetables.” Great ****** attitude for a supposed host. Misleading advertising relating to our ‘return flight over the Great Barrier reef’ to Cairns. QANTAS at 20,000 feet above the clouds; most disappointing.
The accomodation was clean and comfortable. It was a pity that the original accomodation was not available… however, we all had somewhere comfortable to sleep.
