The trip really packed in some iconic elements of Costa Rica, and lived up to its name in terms of seeing the highlights. It was great to experience the contrast of the Caribbean lowlands, rain forest and the pacific coast. And seeing the abundance of wildlife was incredible, as well as the delicious local dishes and wonderful people we me along the way. The guide was great, really personable and had good knowledge and a keen sense to show us as much as possible, often stopping en route when he had spied interesting animals from the van. The Manuel Antonio and the La Fortuna accommodation was great. The Authentico hotel was fine for passing through but we had paid for an additional night in San Jose, and for this purpose the hotel wasn’t in the best of locations as it was on the edge of the city with not much around in terms of restaurants so we felt a bit stuck in the hotel at the end.

We loved the variety of experiences. No two hotels or activities were quite the same and it was a great balance. We thought the first week was a bit better than the second week, but that's just us. Tortuguero and the nature around La Fortuna and Rio Celeste are hard to match. I'm sure birders will be very satisfied with this tour. What a great trip, with the highlights being Rainbow mountain, Lake Titicaca and the best of all, hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. I feel I have really been able to delve into Peru and now know much more about the country, the people and their cultural beliefs. The trip was very well organised, supported by our excellent guide Julio. Julio was so knowledgeable on all aspects of Peru and shared so many interesting facts about the local areas we visited. The trip ran very smoothly and we felt safe and well looked after through out. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt Julio went above and beyond with his insightful information and organisation, such as booking us great restaurants and the archeological sites we toured. The Peruvian food was amazing, so colourful, tasty and well presented. All the accommodations were clean and in good areas. The porter team supporting our Inca trek were amazing, friendly, efficient and the service and food they provided was very good.

Overall the trip was good. However, it would have been nice to have stayed an extra day at the eco-lodge Selva Verde, as a day off rather than at La Fortuna which was a tourist town. The trip was suppose to be a wildlife tour. There was only the need for one day at La Fortuna, so very disappointing missed out on Selva Verde. The accommodation at La Fortuna was awful, more of a motel, very disappointing not even near a wildlife area, very disappointing. Otherwise, the other hotels were very nice. Our tour leader Walter, excellent, very entertaining, organised, informative, and efficient everyone liked Walter. Also our Bus driver, Randy, very thoughtful about his passengers, an excellent driver, considering the conditions he had to drive in, and also he kept the bus clean, and tidy. Very impressed, little things.
