Guided Museum Tour Of The Chavonnes Battery - Winter Tours

Guided Museum Tour of the Chavonnes Battery - Winter tours

On this guided tour of the Chavonnes Battery visitors are invited to wear an 18th Century tricorn hat and step below sea-level for a fascinating and informative perspective of the 17th and 18th Century Cape Town. Graphic information boards in Afrikaans, English and Xhosa tells the story, displays show the results of the excavation work, including a well. Detailed models depict the battery in 1726, and a bird’s-eye view of Cape Town and Table Bay about 70 years later. One of the most popular sections is the gunnery display, a mixture of genuine artefacts, careful replicas and some of the best models to be found anywhere in South Africa. We have the largest selection of Muzzle-Loaded Cannon in SA and one of the few sites where they are fired off. We look forward to providing you with a very informative and interesting 40 minutes guided tour.

This is the perfect holiday for anybody wanting to experience the real South Africa and have the chance to do as many game viewing safari as they can. The accommodation is perfect, my favourite was Sungunbala, a peaceful oasis in the Drakensberg. Staying in the beehives in Mlilwane is a truly unique experience and one I would highly recommend. It is a full on trip, but it means you can experience and see so much.

Zulu Cultural Village & Zulu Oracle Tour - Winter Tours

Zulu Cultural Village & Zulu Oracle Tour - Winter tours

Come and enjoy a uniquely Zulu experience with a visit to a traditional Zulu oracle/ diviner/herbalist. Then, enjoy learning more about the Zulu culture before visiting a crocodile and snake park. An Inyanga or a Sangoma is a traditional medicine practitioner or shaman of the Zulu people in South Africa. A Sangoma / Inyanga can communicate with your ancestors, work with plant medicine (herbalism) and use the power of prayer for healing. While most practice all three, you will find others that work solely with one or any combination of these methods. Their training varies depending on family lineage and land location. However, what they all have in common is a calling to serve their families, their communities and the Earth. The Inyanga / Sangoma stays in the picturesque area of Molweni. There you will have the opportunity to consult with the local Inyanga / Sangoma and have a traditional Zulu experience. The consultation lasts about 45 minutes where he will use traditional methods like throwing the bones to connect with your ancestors and convey the information he receives. The tour also travels to the Valley of 1000 Hills. Home of PheZulu Cultural and Safari Park. Visitors are taken into traditional beehive shaped thatched huts, where the various artefacts, beliefs and rituals of the Zulu people are explained, giving visitors an insight into the fascinating Zulu culture. The Zulu dancing show (50 minutes) is impressive with the dancers in their traditional garb, showing off their skills with grace, agility and humour. PheZulu also has a Crocodile and Snake Park where guests will be taken on a tour by a knowledgeable local guide. They will learn interesting facts about crocodiles and snakes and have a hands-on experience with Cleo the Burmese python who weighs in at 42 kilograms

City Cycle Tour - Winter Tours

City cycle tour - Winter tours

This tour is ideal if you are visiting Cape Town for the first time. It gives the perfect introduction to the culture, history and architecture of both old and new buildings in Cape Town. The tour departs from the V&A Waterfront, where you will start your cycle ride to the city. The guide makes brief stops to explain significant attractions and their relevance both historically and currently. One of the highlights of the tour is cycling through the Bo Kaap area, one of the most brightly coloured neighbourhoods in Cape Town. Most residents of this area are descendants of slaves from Malaysia and Indonesia. The tour also passes the parliament and heads toward the company's gardens. We make a final stop at the Green Point Stadium before cycling back to the Waterfront where we started.
