This tour was just amazing. We had Robi as our bus driver and Darius as the tour leader and loved every minute of it. I had a leg injury and found the walking tours difficult so my tour leader always managed to come up with ways for me to still be included. We did most of the optional extras and loved everything. The hotels are out of town but close to public transport, all meals were nice and the group were all supportive of each other.
Our tour would not have been the same without our tour leader, his professionalism and knowledge and positive attitude made our experience a dream come true. Our bus driver Robi had fantastic driving skills and we always felt safe and in good hands. I would gladly do another Expat Explore tour with these two guys. Just amazing!!

Embark on a journey through the lesser-known regions of southern Poland and northern Slovakia and delve into the heart of the Carpathian Mountain Range. Over 8 days, we transition from Krakow and the rolling hills of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship to Slovakia’s castle-studded Spis region and the snow-capped peaks of the High Tatras. While the rides offer diverse challenges, the pace remains unhurried, allowing ample time to explore heritage sites, enjoy scenic hikes, unwind in old town squares, and savor wholesome meals.
Meeting in Krakow, the first stage of the adventure takes us through the Polish countryside of the Carpathian foothills and past the densely forested Gorce and Pieniny National Parks. Crossing into Slovakia via a pedestrian and bicycle-only path along the Dunajec River gorge, we venture onwards to spend two nights in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic town of Levoca. Here, we immerse ourselves in the captivating history of the Spis region, with a highlight being Spissky hrad, Slovakia’s largest castle and a medieval ruin to the nth degree! The tour’s final leg brings us into the High Tatras, Slovakia’s tallest mountain range and the crown jewel of the Carpathians. We bike against the backdrop of towering granite peaks and relax at a classic Slovakian wellness hotel on the shores of Strbske Pleso, a picturesque montane lake. The tour ends in Strbske Pleso.
Join us on this Central European bike tour designed for the intrepid soul!
Combine this tour with “Cycling High Tatras to Budapest” and make it a 15-day, three-country journey from the heights of the Carpathians to the banks of the Danube! Departure dates are aligned to continue with the second tour after a rest day in Strbske Pleso. Click here to see the tour details.
