Truly wonderful trip. Cruising down the Norman River into the Gulf & also Cobbold Gorge. Train travel on both Savannahlander and Gulflander. Staying in train carriages for accommodation and viewing the lava tubes. This trip was so well organised by our fantastic driver Andrea who went out of his way to keep everyone happy. The scenery and the activities were amazing. Ahu deserves a raise for his ability to make sure that everyone got to complete the activities that they wanted to. He juggled things around to keep everyone happy and make sure that everyone got the most out of their trip. The funny commentary and good music was a bonus. In the future though, there were communication errors between Topdeck as a company and the information Ahu was provided, such as what time we needed to arrive back into Wellington which some passengers who needed to catch flights back immediately found stressful.

The AATKINGS Wilderness trip was easy and enjoyable. There were options to do more or less each day. The coach, food and accommodation were great but it was the easy way the trip showed off beautiful Tasmania, that won me.

AAT is an excellent tour company, I would rate them highly.
They look after their customers very well, are helpful and attentive. The tour guide Margaret was wonderful as was the bus driver. Margaret was very informative and helpful and had so much knowledge to share.
The accommodation was always good. I liked the interaction AAT Kings provided with the two dinners together (very special) with all the people on the tour on 2 separate evenings, the delicious breakfast meals we had and the welcome drink on arrival was very special and a nice personal touch for us all. The small free gift was a special touch. I love the colour of the bag. It'll be very useful. Thank you.
From two previous tour companies overseas that I've travelled with in the past and also AAT Kings in Australia, I'd honestly have to say, AAT Kings was head and shoulders above the others. Such impeccable service. It would be hard to beat.

I must say that I throughly enjoyed my South Western Escape tour with AAT Kings bus company. Why, you say? Well… let’s start with the people they employ. People like Margaret, our tour guide and Mark, our driver. Such professional people who ensure the comfort and quality of the tour is their number one priority. Nothing was too big or small a request for these two to get right in there and give a helping hand. Then there’s the bus itself! Modern, clean and comfortable, with wide windows for picture taking and I shouldn’t forget the charging ports on board. Videos that relate to particular steps are shown to increase your awareness of what is coming up.
Great accomodation, comfortable, clean, that are well positioned in the towns and cities you visit. There is a variety of meals to be had and every one of them were of a good standard and quality. Lastly, and it is by no means last, is the itinerary, which is really the reason that you wanted to go in the first place. Everything down to the last item is timed perfectly and meticulously planned. The information provided is most interesting and I found myself listening with baited breathe. There’s only one thing wrong that I can mention and that’s the last evening meal together. It means that you have to say good bye to the friends you’ve made along the way. However, sometimes, like me, you may meet up again with them on the next AAT trip that you take!

Great trip. Seeing the remoteness of the N and W of Tasmania contrasted with the very different side on the NE and S.
Waking up in Cradle Mountain to snow and freezing temperatures will remain a highlight of the trip, closely followed by Launceston’s Cataract Gorge optional cruise which included a wine tasting! Very difficult to select highlights!
I like the fact that Margaret, the very knowledgable guide, gave us a variety of information on the history including convict background to Sarah Island and Port Arthur, human geography, agriculture etc and makes the area really come alive.
My wife and I have been on several trips with the Trafalgar group (AAT Kings / Insight / Trafalgar). We have not had a bad experience yet. The travel directors were like personal concierges to us. Our travel directors, Tony and Marty, were fantastic people. Funny, professional and helpful. Bus drivers were excellent, optional experiences were great. We look forward to going on future tours with the Trafalgar group.
