We begin at a lodge in the western foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, our launchpad for a traverse into the savannah. After an immersive day spent in a village-stye Maasai ecolodge, we venture south to the slopes of Mount Meru and Tanzania’s safari capital of Arusha. We then dart across the countryside to reach Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large herds of elephants. Here we have a full-day jeep safari before continuing onwards on dirt roads to the shores of Lake Manyara. Our final cycling day involves a climb up the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, leading us to the spectacular, UNESCO World Heritage listed, Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here we have another full-day jeep safari, affording the chance to see the Big Five and many other animals in one of Africa’s most scenic reserves.
