Do you want to explore more of Skopje and get the chance to escape the city for a few hours? Combine a Skopje walking tour with a visit to Matka valley, a unique natural area near Skopje.
In the morning, walk around the city center and Skopje old bazaar with our experienced and professional tour guide. See some of the city's highlights, both old and new, including the Mother Theresa Memorial House and her statue at the main pedestrian zone in Skopje; Gate Macedonia and the main square in Skopje; the remains of the old Skopje railway station which is now a city museum; the Macedonian parliament and the iconic stone bridge. Also, pass by the new archeological museum, the Museum of Macedonian Struggle, the Holocaust museum, and the Church of St Spas (The Holy Salvation). Visit inside the Fortress Kale.
After the tour, at around 11 am, you will be picked up by our driver to visit Matka Valley. There are a lot of possibilities to escape from city life here, depending on your preference. Take a boat trip to the entrance of Cave Vrelo or alternatively, hop aboard a kayak or raft and see the Treska River canyon by water. Or simply walk along the lake and enjoy the nature. Explore a canyon littered with monasteries, medieval ruins, and natural caves by Lake Matka, Macedonia's first artificial lake. Do not miss to peek at the entrance of Cave Vrelo, one of the deepest underwater caves in Europe.
We'll have a coffee break at a nearby restaurant before heading back to Skopje.

Our group Explore Leader, Filip Kolic, is highly professional in ensuring our trip is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He's quick in problem-solving and forward thinking for example he's on top of organising alternative transport back-to-back for our group when early news of regional floodings and landslides had caused disruptions of the railway and road connections to our next destination. Great job there as we were able to reach our next city to continue our planned guided city tour, although quite short. We managed to celebrate our trial & tribulation at a lovely quick dinner next to our hotel! All went well with extra National Park sceneries and travel experiences!

Sirma was terrific. She took us to little out of the way places (like the Kommittee bar) and really gave us a good overview of the city, Tirana history, etc. We wanted to sample some local cuisine and we definitely did (yum, barek). Highly recommend!
