I met some of the best characters on this group tour, friends for life and had some of the experiences and memories that will live with me forever. The 65 day tour of South America is fast moving and packs so much in. The CEOs from G are the best and are always there to take care of you and the rest of the group, all you have to do is turn up and enjoy your trip

This was one of the best "Discovery" tours I have been on with Explore. It felt like a real adventure, with the excursions to the volcanoes Cotopaxi and Chimborazo and the boat trips on the Napo river, a tributary of the Amazon. Our tour leader, Fabian, and driver, William, were both excellent. The accommodation was generally very good, with the exception being the Riobamba hotel. I find the comments by a previous reviewer about the current power outages in Ecuador to be absurd. The outages were a mild inconvenience (to us - although I pity the Ecuadorian people) but there were absolutely no security or food safety issues as a result. When I travel in (e.g.) South America I don't expect everything to be just like it is in my cosy Western European home! My one criticism of this trip is that there were far too many shopping stops that were thinly disguised as "cultural visits" - I counted at least ten of these. The number should be at least halved. I mean, what on earth do painted balsa wood parrots have to do with the culture of Ecuador? Or carved nut kernels, for that matter?
Great trip, great memories & I can’t wait for my next experience with G adventures. I always come away with amazing memories and even more amazing new friends for life all over the world. My first ever solo trip was with G in 2022 and it opened up my world of travel, I have never looked back!
Really nice experience, I saw a lot things and had many highlights. It was a pitty that our first CEO was not that good and caused some negative vibes in the group. The Lares Trek was cool and no problem at all for me regarding the hike but some people should have not be on the trek because they struggled really hard and we needed to wait really long for them.
Take in all that this beautiful part of the world has to offer with a tour that takes you overland across some of the planet's most striking scenery. Starting your trip in Quito, travel through volcanic peaks, along the Amazon Basin and into the jungle before heading into Peru. Here the arid landscape along the northern coast gives way to a vibrant surfing scene, then on towards Lima. We follow the Andes through ancient Inca sites such as Machu Picchu and onto the vast altiplano of Bolivia, before finishing in Santiago, at the foot of the snow topped Andes.
Please note that the accommodation on this trip is predominantly camping, though there may be opportunities to upgrade this locally where rooms are available. Please see the trip inclusions for an approximate percentage of camping and room nights
