Great Itinerary which covered every touristy thing we wanted to do and *Personal details removed by Feefo* tried his best to accomodate any "must sees" the group had in mind.
Perfect coach which was kept clean (inside and out). We felt safe throughout the drive by *Personal details removed by Feefo* .
Hotels were far from anything, and getting around just became an extra expense. The Hotel Il Burchiello Oriago really needs to be re-considered as an option. It was awfully small, outdated and just not a great experience, especially as the first stop into Italy.
Wish the group dynamics could be better - maybe a "break the ice" drinks meet on the first night could have helped and made conversations more enjoyable.
Traveling from eternal Rome and up through the hazy hills of Tuscany, you’ll spend eleven days sampling the best of Assisi, Siena, Florence, Bologna, Venice, the Tuscan wine region, and Capri! Catch the spirit of la vita bella as you explore elegant Florentine piazzas, rummage through handcrafted artisanal treasures, sip world-class wines, and float down intimate Venetian canals. You will then discover the treasures along Italy’s Amalfi Coast, to sun-bleached Capri before returning to Rome!
From Prague to Vienna and on to Paris, this immersive tour of Europe takes in the mansions of Amsterdam, the Roman Empire relics of Rome and the breathtaking scenery of the Alps. Arrive at your Venice hotel by private boat, ahead of an exclusive dining experience at La Fenice restaurant, and sunset cocktails at Cafe Florian. In the Golden City of Prague, take your pick of Insight Choice experiences, touring the courtyard of a 1,000-year-old Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral, or joining a Local Expert on an exploration of the city’s historic Jewish Quarter, with a stop at a local bakery to sample Trdelník—a traditional Czech pastry. Journey onwards through the countryside forests of Bohemia to Hungary for a scenic Budapest dinner cruise, gliding past the city’s UNESCO World Heritage sites in style.
Art lovers like me, this one’s for you. Portugal dazzled with art and faith. Two features jumped out immediately: Lisbon’s Monastery of Jeronimos, a Manueline masterpiece and Fatima, a place of deep meaning. Wandering Nazare’s windy cliffs and watching Atlantic surf pound felt elemental.
Obidos’ castle and ramparts invited daydreams of knights and medieval poets. The Gothic arches of Batalha took my breath away. Porto's tile-covered churches and artistic heritage felt soulful as we sampled local port wines beside the Douro River.
The highlight was Coimbra, Europe’s amazing academic city, steeped in history and tradition. The old university chapel’s 18th-century Portuguese Baroque design left me speechless.
Guides were enthusiastic and informative. If you love art, faith, and ocean air, this tour is a rich tapestry not to be missed.
Marvel at Gaudi’s masterpieces in Barcelona, spot locals sipping pastis in Nice and admire Florence the home of Michelangelo and the Renaissance, as you circle the azure waters of the Mediterranean. Embrace the city of Pisa with a stop at the famous leaning tower, where Italian astronomer Galileo was said to have pioneered his theories of gravity. In France, work up an appetite in the medieval streets. In Spain, dine with the locals in Basque tradition with an evening of San Sebastian pintxos tastings, snack-sized tapas, while sipping on a refreshing glass of local Txakoli wine. In Rome, taste the seasonal flavours and of course, handmade pasta.
A great trip I would highly recommend to those interested in this style of travel, made all the more enjoyable thanks to the skill & dedication of our wonderful tour leader!
You really do need two weeks to cicumnavigate Sicily and see things properly. Any shorter and you'll get just a couple highlights or get very rushed from place to place. This tour had good pace, gave sufficient time in major sites (Syracuse, Agrigento, Palermo, Villa del Casale) and included gems like Morgantina, Mozia Island, and Enna.
Antonio is an exceptional wealth of information, its obvious he has a professional background in Sicilian history. The level of historical, cultural and architectural background information was tremendous, helped greatly to put things in context and understand the flow and changes absorbed by this island that resulted in what we were seeing.
