The former French Concession is the most visited part of Shanghai, which is not difficult to understand if you look at its beautiful streets, great architecture and historic sites. Wheely takes you to the Western part of the French Concession and goes back in time to when the French lived in this part of Shanghai.
With a stop at the Propaganda Museum, you'll find an absolute treasure trove of Chinese Propaganda Art and at the same time, gain a little more understanding of the tumultuous but recent history of the country. The tour will have a quick stop at Tianzifang, where Wheely will guide you through this beautiful and well conserved artist area, hidden in Shanghai's back alleys.
The entire tour you'll be cycling through the beautiful, leafy streets of the former French Concession and you'll get a great idea of the life in Shanghai now and then.
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in downtown Xi’an either at 08:30 am or in the afternoon at 01:00 pm. Please choose one of the two options while making the booking.
After traveling for an hour, you will reach the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum. Stroll around the museum while our licensed, English-speaking guide gives you detailed historical information of the Qin Dynasty and the first emperor of the dynasty who ordered the Terracotta Warriors to be built.
Visit all the three pits located in the museum and see thousands of 2,200-year-old statues depicting life-size warriors and horses. Stay in the museum for around 2.5 hours and learn more about the statues and the king who ordered them before his death.
After the guided tour is over, you will then head back to your hotel in downtown Xi’an.
Always wanted to see Mount Everest without trekking or climbing? This tour, through Lhasa and Kathmandu, is one of the easiest ways to reach the base camp of Mount Everest without walking for multiple days.
The tour starts off in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal and the capital of Nepal’s culture, religion and architecture. The vibrant history of this mystical and ancient place has left its mark in the distinctive architecture that ornaments the city. The Himalayan giants are visible from the city itself and combine with the ancient architecture for spectacular views. We'll take you to the edge of the Kathmandu valley to the famous tourist destination of Nagarkot Village, where you will get an even more spectacular view of the Himalayan range.
Your journey continues to Tibet – a secluded piece of land rich in spectacular landscapes, mystical monasteries and vibrant culture. See the beautiful Tibetan cities and towns of Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse and Rongbuk, where we'll visit popular landmarks like the Dalai Lama’s Potala and Norbulingka Palaces, the Tibet Museum, Barkhor Bazaar and Gyantse Dzong, as well as impressive Tibetan monasteries like Sera, Drepung, and Jokhang Temple.
We also cross several passes and visit the beautiful YamdrokTso Lake on our trip. Afterwards, drive across the Tibetan highlands and high passes to the fabled Rongphu Monastery and Mt. Everest Base Camp from where the view of the great North face of Mount Everest is the most spectacular of all.
Cycle from Guangzhou through stunning rural countryside and the limestone pinnacles of Yangshuo, visit the Terracotta Warriors and historical sights of Beijing. On this trip you go as a traveller, only to find that you become the main attraction, as local people are delighted to see that we travel as they do - on bicycles. We jostle for room with lumbering buffaloes, friendly farmers and of course local cyclists while at other times we cycle for long periods in complete serenity on country roads. Our cycling pace is relaxed with time to stop in villages or any other sites of interest. A mini bus accompanies us to carry our gear and provides a welcome break when you have had enough cycling for the day. Following our cycle ride we have ample time to appreciate the rich culture and history of Xian (with its thousands of terracotta warriors) and Beijing (including a remote section of the Great Wall) to provide an incomparable panorama of rural, ancient and modern China. No wonder this is one of our most popular trips.
