Wow - this was a challenging hike! Not so much the terrain, definitely due to the hot weather. Putting the heat, sweat and fatigue to one side - this hike is unique and rewarding. Along the route there is lots to see and the destination is mind blowing! Our team (Stiwen, Brayan & Pinnochio) were attentive and did everything possible to make this a safe & memorable trip. The side journeys on this itinerary were all worthwhile and enjoyable. It was just the two of us for the duration of this trip and at all times we felt safe and everything ran without a hitch.

Join us on this guided, 5-day tour of Sierra Nevada del Cocuy Chita o Guican National Natural Park, a trekker's dream located in the easternmost part of the Colombian Andes, and get the chance to see stunning sights of magnificent mountains, towering rock faces and crystalline lakes along the way.
Trek through some of the most spectacular areas of El Cocuy and carry out a comprehensive, south-to-north tour of the mountain range. See El Cocuy's most impressive peaks, including Pan de Azucar, El Pulpito del Diablo and Ritacuba Blanco, and encounter a variety of environments. Walk through rich valleys full of exotic plants and streaked by streams and waterfalls, past barren but beautiful moraines that are dotted by glacial lakes, and along the base of towering mountains that are perennially covered in ice and snow.
Starting from the town of El Cocuy, this trek will take you through Lagunillas, an area with small lakes surrounded by mountains, and Laguna Grande de la Sierra before coming to an end in El Cocuy. It includes three long hiking days of 7 to 8 hours each and two nights spent in charming mountain cabins where the air is thin and the blankets are thick. Great trip, it really was a contrast of the different parts of Colombia. My favourite part of the trip was staying in the coffee region and the day we went to the Coco Valley by an old jeep, played tejo and walked around Salento. I also enjoyed the cookery lesson and coffee tour. Overall highly recommended and a real insight in to Colombia.
Andres was a great guide, super kind and considerate. I felt really safe and well looked after by him on the tour.

The name Bogota often conjures a sprawling, densely populated, modern Latin American city. However, there is more to this city than just tall buildings and traffic-clogged streets. Join us on this 3-day tour and get the chance to come closer to nature around the city as we take you on rock-climbing trips around town.
The mountains and valleys around Bogota have the highest concentration of climbing areas in the country. This climbing trip takes you to three of the best destinations and lets you experience the full spectrum of Colombian rock climbing: from climbing 8-foot-tall boulders to conquering 400-foot-long traditional routes.
Start this trip by driving to Macheta, whose beige sandstone walls attract rock climbers from all over the world. Enjoy bouldering in Sutatausa next. Head for Suesca, the birthplace of climbing in Colombia, on the final day of the trip and enjoy traditional, multi-pitch climbing on its bullet-hard sandstone wall. We will drive you back to your hotel in Bogota at the end of the trip.
The Colombian Andes form the northernmost stretch of this majestic South American mountain range. Lofty peaks shrouded in cloud forests, rugged canyons carved by rushing rivers, and foothills dotted with cattle pastures and coffee plantations create an intriguing landscape for a bike journey. A long history and living heritage are ever-present in the traditions of indigenous groups and the terracotta-hued architecture of towns built by Spanish explorers. This 12-day bike journey takes us from the capital, Bogotá, north through the Departments of Boyacá and Santander, riding from one heritage-rich Andean town to the next, each seemingly lifted from a painting. We tackle gravel roads, conquer technical climbs and descents, take in breathtaking views, sip fresh coffee, discover local crafts, savour traditional cuisine, and embrace the spirited charm of Colombian hospitality!
Starting from Bogotá’s high-altitude urban buzz, we drive north for a gentle warm-up ride in the Andean foothills, leading us to the cliffs of Suarez. Over the next few days, the cycling gets longer, higher, and tougher as we ride a mix of paved and gravel roads through an agrarian hinterland filled with cattle ranches, farmlands, and villages where artisans craft colourful ponchos and intricate ceramics. Next, the scenery shifts dramatically as we traverse the Candelaria Desert – the “desert of souls” – with its arid moorlands, rocky paths, and an ancient astronomical observatory. After a night in Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia’s best-preserved colonial towns, we transition into the highlands of Santander, riding past waterfalls, through rainforests, and past stone churches. The final two riding days take us up and down the Suarez River valley along winding gravel roads, culminating in an ascent to Barichara, one of the country's most beautiful heritage towns, perched atop a plateau. We end by exploring this gem of a town on foot before transferring to Bucaramanga for onward flights or extended stays.
