There were 6 highlights on the trip.
- Guwahati
- living tree bridges
- Hornbill Festival
- Kaziranga NP
- Majuli island
- Longwa head hunters village.
Each were excellent.
The accommodation and food were generally much better than I expected. Most meals were included. All were good except for a couple of 'locally' prepared meals. The choice of restaurants and hotels were as good as could be expected considering where we were.
Our guide Sanjeev was very professional and organised. If there were any issues they were kept behind the scenes.
This is a trip for the experienced traveller. I would suggest that there are other parts of India to visit before putting Assam on the list. The reason I give is because of the distances between each of the highlights. Long days, some of them uncomfortable. Our 2 drivers did an excellent job looking after us given the driving. However the highlights made up for the travelling at least as far as I was concerned. There aren't many trips to this part of India and is very much off the Western tourist trail with no MacDonalds in sight, which, for me, is a huge bonus
Experience luxury at affordable rates and within the guidelines of current travel restrictions, This carefully-crafted itinerary takes you to some iconic and spectacular places as well as some lesser-known spots of Sri Lanka and is comprised of carefully selected boutique accommodation that you are sure to love!
Commence your tour from the heritage city, Sigiriya where you will explore a few of the main ancient sites such as Anuradhapura ancient city. Experience a jeep safari at Minneriya National Park as well. Arrive in Kandy after exploring the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and enjoy your stay at the royal city. Afterward, drive to the lesser-known Wellawaya area with few optional activities proposed for you to choose from. Spend a marvelous 3 nights stay at Tangalle. Visit the Udawalawa Elephant Transit Home and explore few other locations suggested optionally as per your preferences.
We look forward to seeing you in beautiful Sri Lanka.
Fabulous walking and touring holiday. Hotels were all decent to very good. Our tour leader, Cham, was excellent - very knowledgeable and always willing to do extra optional things. We were a small group and we wanted to do everything! The tour itinerary was excellent and we felt like we saw nearly everything that a tour only group would see in addition to all the walking in remote locations and seeing beautiful views and remote villages. Highly recommended!!!
From flying close to the Himalayas to driving through the plains of the Terai, from exploring the cultural heritages of the Kathmandu Valley to discovering Pokhara, Nepal's lake district, this 9-days, private tour will help you discover Nepal like never before.
We will pick you up upon arrival in Kathmandu. Enjoy a mountain flight on the second day of the tour. See some of the major highlights of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur (the three cities in the Kathmandu Valley) before driving off for jungle safari trips to Chitwan National Park. Head for Pokhara and enjoy a city tour before it is time to drive back to Kathmandu.
See the best that Nepal has to offer during this guided trip. For more details, please go through the itinerary below.
Having travelled extensively in Northern India, this was my first time in the South. It proved a hugely enjoyable tour combining walking and sightseeing. The scenery in the hills above the bustling town of Munnar is stunning with the landscape sculptured by centuries of tea growing and the higher peaks offering panoramic views over the Western Ghats. The camping was well organised with good sized quality tents equipped with comfy mates. We were expertly looked after by Sheila and her team who produced large quantities of excellent South Indian cuisine. Be prepared for all weathers - we encountered sunshine and rain on our end of November departure. Much has been made of the local leeches. They are around particularly in damp conditions, but by wearing long trousers and tucking them into my socks they were no big deal. The walking in Periyar Park was also excellent and with the help of knowledgeable rangers we were able to see elephants, mongoose, giant squirrel and a profusion of bird life. If birding is your thing don't forget to pack your binoculars.
The biggest 'shout out' must go to the tour leader Abhi who was top notch. Nothing was too much trouble, he arranged lots of extras (visits to a tea factory, spice farm, rubber plantation, stops at the off license for beer supplies, male grooming at the local barbars and oily ayurveda massages (a must do!). He kept our small group informed and entertained and it was a pleasure to spend time with him. As a solo booker, traveling with Abhi felt like holidaying with a mate.
In summary, a highly recommended, great introduction to the Kerala region of Southern India. I'll certainly be back for more.
Walking, wildlife, food and culture: this tour ticked a lot of boxes for me. It is true that the poor visibility at this time of year (March) meant that the Annupurna mountains weren't visible during much of the trek, but the landscape with its flora, fauna and small farms still made the walking interesting and enjoyable. A special highlight was seeing the one-horned rhinoceros at the Chitwan National Park, and the cultural events staged at the Green Chwadi Retreat at Chitwan were an unexpected bonus. There was a wealth of birds to see throughout the tour, and our tour leader, Su, was very knowledgeable in identifying them. As someone who is unable to eat gluten, I had been worried about how I would cope with the food; and I am extremely grateful to Su for helping me to navigate this, as well as ensuring that there were always things available for me to eat.
Sri Lanka is the rising star of Asia, and trust us, it's got it all! Our 12-day group tour itinerary show's you the best of this green and luscious gem of the Indian Ocean. Head up to the misty mountain tops to hike the hill country and explore tea plantations before travelling down to the sun drenched beaches and national parks where we’ll search for wild elephants. Spot dolphins, visit ancient temples, play cricket on the beach and have the adventure of a lifetime with your new One Life travel family. The smells of spices, tea and traditional foods will bring your senses alive as you adventure through this island nation.
Fully guided with a legendary company guide and a local Sri Lankan guide, you will be well taken care of and have all your questions answered. The tour includes accommodation in hotels and hostels as well as the most stunning train journey in the world, an expert guide, meals, transport, and more.
Great well organised tour with an excellent tour guide, Jojan Matthews. The accommodation was wonderful but really believe that the overnight train did not add to the trip. I have done a few overnight trains in India and slept not well but that one to Chennai had so many stops, 23 I believe, that it made it made it awful.. So called express it definitely wasn’t. We had people arguing in our compartment at 12:30am followed by others coming in and signing lights at you. Maybe give people an alternative to get to Chennai and meet up there for the final dinner and tour of the temples. Otherwise I definitely will use Explore again! Thank you.
Excellent family adventure. So much fun and excellent guide. Kids will talk about it for a long time. We had 3 families with 6 teenagers who were all impressed.
