On the whole a great itinerary. I would drop the Sunderbans though, since the chance of seeing any wildlife while sailing for hours up and down the middle of the river is unlikely, especially since the animals are behind a fence. We had an excellent tour leader, Kiran who is warm, very informed and energetic and who certainly went that extra mile in solving problems and caring for everyone. The local guides who travelled with us were also great, as were the drivers. The hotels in India were the Summit hotels, an Indian chain. They are clean and quite well organised. However since those in Sikkim were out of town we were forced to eat dinner in the hotels which produced the identical menu. It would have been better to have spent the bits of free time we had in Sikkim in the towns themselves.

Excellent trip. Great balance between cycling and sightseeing. Tour leader couldn't be better - great English, very knowledgeable about the culture and history / archaeology - and supported by an excellent team. Jordan is such an amazing country, and seems entirely safe from the nearby conflict in Gaza.

There were 6 highlights on the trip.
- Guwahati
- living tree bridges
- Hornbill Festival
- Kaziranga NP
- Majuli island
- Longwa head hunters village.
Each were excellent.
The accommodation and food were generally much better than I expected. Most meals were included. All were good except for a couple of 'locally' prepared meals. The choice of restaurants and hotels were as good as could be expected considering where we were.
Our guide Sanjeev was very professional and organised. If there were any issues they were kept behind the scenes.
This is a trip for the experienced traveller. I would suggest that there are other parts of India to visit before putting Assam on the list. The reason I give is because of the distances between each of the highlights. Long days, some of them uncomfortable. Our 2 drivers did an excellent job looking after us given the driving. However the highlights made up for the travelling at least as far as I was concerned. There aren't many trips to this part of India and is very much off the Western tourist trail with no MacDonalds in sight, which, for me, is a huge bonus

This comprehensive 11-day journey offers a captivating experience from the bustling capital of Delhi to the serene and breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh. The tour is meticulously planned to provide a rich cultural experience while ensuring a comfortable pace, particularly for acclimatisation to the high altitude of the Himalayas.
The experience begins in Delhi, where you are introduced to a dynamic blend of historical grandeur and modern life. The adventure features key landmarks like India Gate and Humayun's Tomb, and immerses you in the vibrant atmosphere of Old Delhi's markets with a guided rickshaw and street food tour. This initial phase sets the stage for the diverse experiences to come, contrasting the urban vibrancy of Delhi with the tranquil, mountainous region that follows.
A significant part of the journey focuses on Ladakh, a region of immense natural beauty and spiritual significance. From the moment you land in Leh, the focus shifts to acclimatisation, a crucial element for a comfortable experience at high altitude. The route thoughtfully balances travel with rest, including a day dedicated to exploring key cultural sites like Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa while allowing your body to adjust. As the journey progresses, you venture out to the stunning Sham Valley, crossing some of the world's highest motorable passes and visiting iconic monasteries such as Likir and Ridzong. This portion of the adventure is filled with unique geological wonders like the Magnetic Hill and the "Moon Landscapes," showcasing the otherworldly terrain of the region.
The journey culminates with visits to the remote Nubra Valley and the stunning Pangong Tso Lake. The drive to Nubra takes you over the dramatic Khardung La, offering spectacular views. In the valley, you'll experience a unique desert environment, complete with Bactrian camels and a visit to the historic village of Turtuk, which holds a poignant place in Indo-Pakistani history. The adventure then leads to the brilliant blue waters of Pangong Tso, a highlight for many. The experience concludes with a return to Leh and then to Delhi, leaving you with lasting memories of India's diverse landscapes, from the busy city streets to the peaceful Himalayan peaks
