Brilliant Central Highlands + Sirigiya Tour. My parents, husband and I booked a private tour with Aitken Spence to travel to Sirigiya and the Central Highlands for a 5 day 6 night trip and we couldn't be more pleased. From start to finish the whole tour was very well organized thanks to a great organizer and great driver-guide Kusum who was very helpful and approachable throughout the trip. He was also very knowledgeable about Sri Lanka and was able to answer almost every question we asked him about the country! He was also, most importantly, a very safe driver who was highly skilled at driving (a useful skill when navigating the narrow roads of the central highlands). Aitken Spence also booked us in on some of the most amazing hotels we've ever stayed at. The lake views and amazing room upgrade at Heritance Kandalama was particularly memorable. The service and atmosphere at the Heritance Tea Factory, located inside a tea plantation, was also unforgettable. 98 Acres, facing Little Adam's Peak, gave us a wonderful sunrise and star gazing opportunity. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend it.

If you're the kind of person who likes to go beyond the surface, this tour is for you. I joined the Heritage of Rajasthan trip with my cousin, and we were both impressed with how much heart and detail was put into every day of the journey. It didn’t feel rushed or overly “touristy.” We had time to enjoy each city—walk through narrow alleys, talk to local artisans, sip masala chai on rooftops. That’s what made it memorable.
Pushkar, in particular, was a highlight for me. Watching the rituals at the lake in the evening made me feel like I was witnessing something truly timeless. Jodhpur’s fort was massive and majestic, and Jaipur’s Amber Fort was like a real-life movie set. Udaipur felt like the opposite, serene and romantic. I still can’t believe I had dinner overlooking the lake with palace lights glowing in the background.
The accommodations were mid-range but charming: clean, comfortable, and often located in beautiful heritage properties. Our driver was fantastic, and our guide brought the history alive without being boring or overwhelming. He was also really approachable and made sure everyone in the group felt included.
One of the best parts was the group itself—it was a good mix of people from different backgrounds, and we all got along really well. It added another layer to the trip.
This wasn’t just a checklist of places—it was an experience that made me feel connected to the history, art, and people of Rajasthan.
This 15-day tour of Rajasthan explores one of India's most popular and interesting states, famous for its hilltop forts, camel fairs and colourful saris and stays in some lovely heritage hotels converted from old havelis and palaces. We start the trip by exploring the contrasting sides to India's capital with tours of both New and Old Delhi, before heading to Agra where the Taj Mahal is our next highlight. This monument to love is a spectacular building with a tragically romantic story behind its construction. We’ll visit it at sunrise, and also from an unusual vantage point on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River where we take a walk through farm fields and homesteads with a local village guide.
Next we'll spend a night in rural Rajasthan, staying in a converted palace in a small village close to the town of Hinduan.
We'll also have the opportunity to explore the Rajasthan's capital of Jaipur, before heading to Ranthambore National Park where we'll have two included game drives, staying on the lookout for the elusive Bengal Tiger.
As we head further in to Rajasthan, next on the agenda is the holy lakside town of Pushkar, home to the worlds only Brahman Temple. We'll spend time in Jodhpur which is a classic Rajasthani town, with a large fort dominating a hill overlooking the town, but it is especially famous for its blue painted houses and streets. We'll then head to Udaipur, stopping along the way to see the beautiful white marble Jain temples at Ranakhpur.
The last city we'll visit, before returning to Delhi is a real gem, the lakeside city of Udaipur, one of Rajasthan's most attractive cities. Here, we'll visit its top attractions, such as the city palace, gardens and a boat trip on Lake Pichola. Our time in India comes to an end with a sleeper train journey back to Delhi.
The accommodations used on this tour have been carefully selected and include a home-stay style hotel whilst in Delhi, a modern property in Agra and heritage hotels in Jaipur, Hinduan, Ranthambore, Pushkar, Jodhpur & Udaipur.
