Full and interesting week of walks. The tour leader did an excellent job of ensuring the health and safety of those on the walk. The leader also went above and beyond to assist in such things as ordering meals (foreign language for all on the walk), and assistance with ongoing travel arrangements. Each day's activities were well paced and suited to the capabilities of the group. All round a very enjoyable week!
This tour hits the highlights of Croatia. I would not recommend the excursion to Montenegro as the customs stop adds an hour and 1/2 to a long bus ride. Kotor in Montenegro is an interesting walled city. The tour guide and bus driver were top rate. They couldn’t have been better.
The itinerary was great. We saw lots of beautiful places and learned so much about culture and history of Croatia. Our tour guide, Nicole Tanner was one of the best tour director we have ever had. The only thing I would share is that nothing we read about this trip gave us a glimpse of how tough the walking and steps were. We did all the optional excursions, and most of them involved a walk up a very steep hill to a home or restaurant. Nicole made arrangements for a car to deliver us from where the bus could park to the destination. I was also quite disappointed that I had to opt out of the Plitvice Park waterfall walk. No where in the itinerary information (that I read) said it was not suitable for mobility impaired (vertigo). I have no problem walking--many days I walked 15,000-16,000 steps,-- but steps I have to do slowly, and narrow wooden walkways over water were not recommended for someone with vertigo. I loved this trip, but I think it should be promoted as a tougher experience for mobility impaired so wise choices can be made. I was thankful for Nicole's insight and advice about what was involved in some of the choices I had to make. Overall, it was a great experience. Hotels were in good locations where we could get out and have a nice walking experience. It would be nice to have the choice of a walk-in shower instead of a fancy soaking tub with no hand bars. I know that many people in our group had walk-in showers when we had a soaking tub that was not safe for me to use. It was a wonderful trip--interesting and varied itinerary, a great tour director (Nicole) and driver (Peter), a very diverse and fun travel group, some of the best local guides we have had, good food, and great times. I just share these concerns--not to complain, but to help you consider some things that make it tougher for some travelers.
The tour was full of great stops, dining, history, etc. We were given an appropriate amount of time to ourselves. Our favorites destinations were Dubrovnik Old Town and the hotel in Dubrovnik, and the multi-course meals in the country. The breakfasts at the hotels were outstanding also. Our tour guide was exceptional!
Our trip to Slovenia and Croatia came with all weathers and some challenges but through it all the tour director Rhi and driver Alija kept calm and carried on. They were great. We saw some awesome sights and had great experiences. I have a new favourite country in Slovenia. Beautiful even if it was cold and often wet. The Postonia caves and Plitvice National Park are also beautiful. The town of Rovinj was a highlight and who knew there was a Colosseum in Pula. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes both nature and history.
Perfect balance of included tours given what are unique activities in Croatia and Slovenia. Same for optional activities. Outstanding tour director (Ric Simons), who was extremely knowledgeable, super organized, and he interacted with every member of the tour. All included and optional meals were great. I (80 years old) should have been in better physical shape; nothing stopped me from enjoying everything; slept well at night! Croatia and Slovenia are beautiful countries. Would recommend the tour to anyone.
