Reviews of our Vilnius Tours for June
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Vilnius during June.
Dzuigas was a fantastic tour leader. Despite breaking his arm while cycling on the 1st day , he gave excellent guidance & support to us while we cycled the rest if the trip. His local knowledge was excellent , and he had a great sense of humour which helped to make his city tours all the more fun & interesting
Very nice sample of the three countries. I particularly enjoyed the medieval towns. We had a nice mix of forests, beaches, castles, old towns, and bog walking. For me, one bog walk was enough. I appreciated the knowledgeable and witty tour group guide.
This wonderful bike tour of the Baltic states exceeded our expectations. Our multilingual Lithuanian guide Romas was the real treasure of the trip making each journey come alive with storytelling and historical insights. He also kept a close eye on how each member of the group was travelling and enjoying the cycling. We opted for guided rather than self guided in the end as it made sense to enjoy the experience with a guide who had in-depth knowledge. The self guided and guided groups would always reunite at the mini bus meeting point to load up the bikes and drive to a new destination together. We were also lucky to have a great group of like minded active travel types from all over the world (Romania, America, Kenya, Germany) who were great company and fun to share the experience with. It was the right mix of cycling and driving for us, as we got to see the best bits of the Baltics without having to put in weeks of extra cycling kilometres to cover all three Baltic states. One of the many highlights was cycling around the beautiful Estonian Saaremaa island. We returned to adjacent Muhu island after the tour had finished and spent another 5 days there cycling and exploring ancestral roots and being ensconced by Muhu’s ancient villages and beauty.
Our tour was extremely well organised and we saw a variety of countryside, cultural places and shoreline. The guide was excellent, speaking really good English and as helpful and informative as he could be. All the hotels were good in the category advertised and all were well placed in central locations so that we could easily walk to places we had chosen to visit in the free time. The pace was moderate, walking slowly with the group but covering many miles a day.
This was a most interesting and varied trip. The hotels were all had great locations, were spotlessly clean and with helpful staff. It was certainly good value for money. Anyone thinking of doing this must realise that the Baltic states are all small countries and lack the wealthy past of the larger economies, but they are nonetheless fascinating. Our tour leader was a mine of information and had a great sense of humour. The local guides employed were worthy but all rather dull in comparison.
3 countries in 7 days was always going to give just a glimpse of each country but so much was learned about the history and culture and the itinerary in each capital city was excellent giving plenty of time to visit key locations as well as relax In cafes and restaurants or just wander.
