A wonderful experience in Western Mongolia. So well supported by a great team of people. Our guide Chimge was beautiful, as were the cooks and drivers who worked so hard to ensure we were well looked after. We appreciated having the camels and horses carry our gear on the treks on the more difficult parts of the terrain and in case of injury or illness. I came away with so many photos from the Western Panorama trip. The tents provided were good and the felt sleeping pads helped make it a comfortable night's sleep. We had ample food despite being in remote locations.

People made this a fantastic trip overall, the country is one of a kind, so beautiful. We shared ger camps with the Classic tour in a few instances, and this is a first, we did other NatGeo trips and there was a clear difference in the level of accommodation. The high cost of this trip needs to reflect in better wages for local people, as the accommodation is basic, my hope is that the guide and the drivers can have a better and more competitive income. I understand that previous travellers have given feedback about the Gobi Anar camp in the past and no changes have been implemented. Our local experience was frustrating and disappointing and I would love to chat with a manager about it, please feel free to give me a call at your convenience.

My experience with National Geographic and G Adventures in Mongolia was literally life-changing. From the capital city to the Gobi desert to the nomadic ger camps, I was able to experience first-hand the many wonderful facets of this gorgeous country. By sharing with our group their deep love of Mongolia, the guides ensured that each of us carried home our own love of the country.

The trek through Mongolia in the steps of the Nomad was spectacular enough but to have Tim Cope as our Tour leader was an absolute bonus. His insights and knowledge of the Mongolian nomads made the trip so much better.

The experience was good. The gurs could have been better. Some camps were better than others. At one camp one of our party was electruted using the showers; fortunately not badly. The showers were shut down as a result. The drivers were excellent. Our guide however lacked experience in communication skills to the group. He should also have been better at keeping us together as a group. It would have been nice to have had an upgraded gur for our last camp.. There was a time when Explore used to up the last days accommodation which was a nice gesture sadly now missed. There were better gurs at these camps which sadly we did not have access to. I would have paid more to get on suite services.

In a country that has been occupied for thousands of years the natural beauty can be found minutes from Ulan Bator. If you like hiking, camping and interaction with locals this trip is for you. It is the best way to see this country and unplug from the world. Thats right much of the rural areas don't have wifi or cell service. But the beauty of he land is worth it. Highlights of the trip are staying overnight with a local herding family, getting to interact with them and their way of life. Part of the adventure is to experience life in a Ger where there's no plumbing or central electricity. We could try our hand at milking cows or yaks, interact with the goats and sheep and ride a camel. Definitely a wild and wonderful experience.
